Boudhanath stupa is one of the oldest monuments in Kathmandu valley and one of the first monuments with a written history. One of the biggest pilgrimages for Tibetans, the area around this stupa is also known as the little Tibet in Kathmandu. This was listed in the UNESCO’s world heritage site list in 1979 A.D.

Pashupatinath temple is the most important shrine for Hindus in Kathmandu. Although non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple premises. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979 this area has a lot of Sadhus/Hindu holy men who are the center of attraction for many foreigners. Make sure you want to pay them if you take their pictures as they ask for money for being photographed.

Khokana has the temple of Rudryaini and is also famous for mustard oil production. Bungmati, 20 minutes walk from Khokana through paddy fields is full of old Newari houses and architecture. These twin villages are one of the best places to experience Nepal’s age-old heritage and to observe the daily life of the People. You will feel like walking in 18th century Europe as you go through these streets.

Patan Durbar Square - Patan unlike most of the other cities in Nepal has the majority of the Buddhist population. The Patan city has more than 136 Buddhist monasteries and only 50 Hindu temples

Patan Durbar Square is famous for the south Indian style, Krishna temple, the sunken bath, the tall temple of Taleju, and the golden temple. Patan Durbar Square is also famous for carvings done of metal, wood, and stone. Overall a complete heritage site to witness the ancient beauty of Nepal.

You can decide the time to start the day after discussing it with your city guide. We suggest starting sightseeing in Kathmandu before 9 so that you skip the busy traffic of Kathmandu. We head towards the Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square today.

A walk from Kathmandu Durbar Square to Thamel is interesting as it goes through the oldest settlement of the Kathmandu valley and has the local market with clothing, spices, and groceries, etc. After going through these old palace areas we head towards the hill station of Nagarkot for a Sunset view.

Kathmandu Durbar Square - Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the center of the Kathmandu valley and has some of the most interesting monuments in Nepal. The Kasthamandap, the building from which Kathmandu derived its name, the Kumari Ghar, the House of the Living goddess Kumari, the Taleju temple, and the most interesting the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, now a museum are some of the interesting buildings in Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Besides that, the program of different kinds and gathering of people from all over Nepal makes it a lively place and the best place to understand Nepal.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur is on the eastern side of Kathmandu city and is also referred to as the city of Devotees and the fact is justified by hundreds of temples in the area. The home to the vibrant Newari culture, this is also the city of festivals.

The 55 windows palace, the tallest pagoda in Nepal, the Pottery Square, and the museums in Bhaktapur have made it the best palace area in Nepal and also a must-visit place in Nepal when you are here.

Nagarkot - Nagarkot is situated at 2100m from sea level and is famous for the sunset and sunrise view. It is 32 km away from Kathmandu city and is a one-night destination for hikers and trekkers as well as people who love to see mountains from distance, from the hotel room, or with a beer or coffee in hand.

The drive is also very interesting as it winds through the swirling road from Bhaktapur. You can see the Langtang Lirung, Annapurna 2nd, Ganesh Himal range, and also Everest on a very clear day.
