What Is Diamox (Acetazolamide) and How Does It Work?

Diamox is one of the most misunderstood meds and enticing trekking buzzwords. It's more properly called acetazolamide and was originally intended to treat glaucoma and some types of seizures, not altitude sickness.

Its benefits were stumbled upon as trekkers and mountaineers started preparing themselves for the journey, and it is now used universally in high-altitude preparations throughout the Himalayas.

Can You Combine Diamox With Natural Remedies?

The answer to this is a firm yes. Diamox does the chemistry portion of acclimatization so that the body's process of acclimatization can take place at a faster rate.
