Nepal has always been known as a country with the Majority of Hindus and until 2008 it was the only Hindu kingdom in the world. Now Nepal has become a secular nation but even when it was a Hindu kingdom, Nepal was known for its religious tolerance.

Himalayan Trekkers have been operating tours for Muslim visitors since 2009 and we aim to introduce the lifestyle of local Muslims, their heritages to our Muslim and non-Muslim guests, as Muslim life in Nepal is very interesting.

This Muslim Tour in Kathmandu includes two of the biggest mosques in Kathmandu Jame Mosque and Kashmiri Mosque; also, it combines two world heritage sites (Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath). We make sure travelers have a memorable and fruitful trip, as well as provide them with the opportunity to learn about Nepali culture, including Nepalese Muslim culture. Likewise, they may also pray in the Mosque according to their schedule.

Himalayan Trekkers is one of the pioneering tour operators organizing Muslim-friendly tours for Muslim travelers from all over the world, ensuring their interests, convenience, and budget; offering them hygienic and healthy halal meals, Muslim guide, and driver.

Itinerary

Arrival on: Kathmandu

Departure from: Kathmandu

AM – Drive to the Jame Mosque and the Kashmiri Mosque

Jame Mosque and Kashmiri Mosque

Located at the heart of the city, Jame Mosque and Kashmiri Mosque are no more than 500 meters from each other, near the Royal Palace. Both mosques are guarded by high walls; a pedestrian walking on the same side of the street can be forgiven for not noticing the minarets that rise just above him. The main doors of mosques are usually closed unless it is time for Friday prayers when they allow the viewer a glimpse of what lies beyond. Daily life in mosques is marked by prayers that take place five times a day.

PM –

Halal food for Lunch in a Turkish Restaurant. Explore the Muslim community and take a walk through the Thamel area watching the Muslim community. Afterward, walk down to Kathmandu Durbar Square to see the old palaces and monuments. Then drive to the Swayambhunath Temple often referred to as the ‘Monkey temple’.

Swaymbunath

One of the top tourist attractions in Kathmandu, Swaymbhunath Temple stands atop a green hillock west of the city. This sacred site is over 2,500 years old and is claimed by legends to be the point where the legendary Patriarch Manjushree discovered the ancient lake lotus in the valley. The top of the site overlooks most of the Kathmandu valley offering a panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Renowned for its exquisite architecture and artistic embellishment, Kathmandu Durbar Square is another UNESCO World Heritage Site at the center of the city and is quite popular and loved by the visitors. It is one of the three durbar squares in the valley which housed the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. The complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples that were built between 1200 and 1768 A.D personifies the religious and cultural life of the people of the valley. This territory houses the Kumari Home- the palace of the sole living goddess in the world and the Kasthamandap- the monument from which the Kathmandu city derived its name.
