One Day Muslim Tour Overview

One Day Muslim Tour In Nepal is a unique package designed for Muslim and non-Muslim travelers who are interested in experiencing and learning about the history, culture, traditions, social values, and lifestyle of Nepali Muslims.

Islam is the third-largest religion in Nepal and 4.4% of the total population follows Islam. The people that follow Islam in Nepal are known as Nepali Musalman or Nepalese Muslims. Nepal is known as the country with the Majority of Hindus and until 2008 it was the only Hindu kingdom in the world. Now Nepal has become a secular nation but even when it was a Hindu kingdom, Nepal was known for its religious tolerance.

This Muslim Tour in Kathmandu comprises two of the biggest mosques in Kathmandu i.e. Jame Mosque and Kashmiri Mosque. It showcases the astounding lifestyle of the Nepalese Muslim community in one of their oldest settlement areas i.e. you will also get a wonderful opportunity to interact with the local Muslim community. Similarly, this package includes a visit to Indrachowk, an ancient trade market where we will get to see how dedicated the Muslim community is to preserving the skill that their ancestors handed to them which they showcase in form of occupation. In addition, we prepare the itinerary as per the traveler’s praying schedule.

Himalayan Trekkers have been operating tours for Muslim visitors since 2009 and we aim to introduce the lifestyle of local Muslims, and their heritages to our Muslim and non-Muslim guests. We are one of the pioneering tour operators organizing Muslim-friendly tours for Muslim travelers from all over the world, ensuring their interests, convenience, and budget, and offering them hygienic and healthy halal meals, a Muslim-friendly guide, and a driver.

Itinerary in Details

Our One Day Muslim Tour Itinerary is crafted in such a way that travelers can experience the authentic Muslim Culture of Nepal. Your trip will start in the morning after our Muslim- friendly guide along with the driver will come pick you up in your hotel and traverse further to the travel destinations for the day.

The attraction for this tour is Nepali Jame Mosque, Kashmiri Mosque, Muslim settlement areas in Thamel and Thahity, and Muslim Trade Market in Indra Chowk, Ason, and Bagbazar.

The first Islam community settlement in Nepal took during the 15th century and the first ones to arrive here were Kashmiri traders, followed by Afghans, Persians, Arabians, and then Indian Muslims from other present-day Indian territories. On this trip, you will have the amazing opportunity to witness the oldest Islam community settlement in Thahity. You will get to interact with local Muslims who are the friendliest people and are always happy to share their history and lifestyle with others.

Visiting the ancient trade market in Indrachowk, Ason and vendors in Bagbazar is another highlight of this journey as it showcases the lifestyle of Muslim communities. Among all the Muslim markets, Raqi Bazar in Indrachowk is the most famous one as the vibrant outlets and antique streets take you on a short time travel to Medieval Kathmandu. Here, the Islamic vendors sell handmade Potey, a beautiful necklace made of traditional beads.

Likewise, another place on our list is the famous Nepali Jame Mosque. It is the biggest mosque in Kathmandu and a large number of Islam followers visit the mosque for prayer every day. But the mosque is the liveliest during Friday afternoon prayer. Jame Mosque was built by Kashmiri traders in Islamic Mughal style and is rich in architecture having a pond with a fountain in the middle for ablution.

Our next landmark will be the Kashmiri Mosque, also known as Pancha Kashmiri Takiya Masjid. It is Nepal's oldest mosque, built in the 15th century by Kashmiri traders. Likewise, the mosque is built in Islamic Mughal architecture and consists of a prayer hall, an annex, and a madrasah. The tombs of Khwaja Gyasuddin Shah and Haji Mishkin Shah are kept inside the mosque premises.

Similarly, since the timing for Fajr Adhan, Dhuhr Adhan, Asr Adhan, Maghrib Adhan, and Isha Adhan, differs due to many factors, we will create a personalized itinerary for our travelers to incorporate your sightseeing with the prayer times.

Likewise, if you wish to include more attractions for this tour, then we are happy to customize it for you as per availability, interest, and convenience.
