Khopra Danda & Jomsom Muktinath Trek Route
You start your journey at Nayapul, which is just a few hours’ drive from Pokhara. From here, you start making your way to the biggest Gurung village, Ghandruk, via dirt roads, suspension bridges, settlements of Brahmins and Chettris, and cross a lot of rivers.
Picturesque mountain views of Hiunchuli, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna, and Fishtail are in the backdrop on your hiking route. On your way from Ghandruk to Tadapani, your eyes and ears can feast in the jungles of rhododendron and oak, filled with the cacophony of waterfalls and birds.
Next, you continue your adventure to Khopra ridge, followed by Chistibung and Bayli Kharka. After Khopra hill, you have an option to either trek through Ghorepani or from Jomson, but the decision must be made before the start of the trek.
Why Choose Khopra Danda & Jomsom Muktinath Trek
In this particular trek package, we will be moving towards Jomsom and Muktinath after reaching Tatopani (the hot spring). This is a short, rarely visited, and unique trek route. You can have ample opportunities to view the varied landscape and different vegetation.
Jomsom is a renowned tourist destination in the trans-Himalayan region. It lies in the rain-shadow area, resulting in its famous desert-like landscape and vegetation. Thus, the Jomsom desert landscape trek is unique, perfectly complemented by the scenic mountain views.
Culture and People
The people there are simple farmers, traders, shepherds, or small hotel owners, mainly of Tibetan origin. The main highlight is the Muktinath temple due to its high-altitude location and religious significance.
All this combined gives you an experience that cannot be described in words. It is something every traveler would long for. The breathtaking scenery and the adventure will make you feel alive in a way that you have never experienced before.
Best Season for Khopra Danda & Jomsom Muktinath Trek
The best season for the Khopra Danda & Jomsom Muktinath Trek is autumn and spring. You can also trek Khopra Danda and Jomsom Muktinath in winter. Unlike other places in Nepal, you can also venture during the monsoon.
Autumn offers the clearest of weather. If grand views of the peaks are what you want, fall is the best time. Autumn has clear skies and steady weather. Spring is the second-favorite trekking season in Nepal. Trekkers can find life blooming in the forest. Wildflowers bring forth new colors in the region.
You will face the harsh temperatures of the mountains during winter. However, given it’s below 4,000 meters, trekking is open. The journey will be much harder than during spring and autumn. Snow-covered views of the region are one of the most breathtaking views. Winter trek offers a solitary trip.
Jomsom stays in the rain-shadow area, and as such, remains dry during the monsoon. But getting to the rain-free region becomes a hurdle. The early part of this journey will face rainy weather.

The provided lodging facilities in Kathmandu and Pokhara include breakfast. For lunches and dinners, you can visit one of the thousand restaurants in the Thamel area in Kathmandu and around Lakeside in Pokhara.
In the trail of Khopra Danda, you will be served local and a few continental foods. The most popular meal is the authentic Nepali meal, Dal Bhat set (rice, seasonal vegetables, lentils, and pickle).
Besides this, you can also enjoy garlic soup, French Fries, Tibetan bread, eggs/omelet, Pasta, Momo (stuffed dumplings), Thukpa (noodle soup), Chowmein (fried noodles), pancake, and more.
Besides that, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are also available to purchase. However, the package cost does not cover the bar and beverage items, whether it be a non-alcoholic drink or an alcoholic drink.
Drinking Water
Water is important in daily life, more so during treks in the Himalayas. Finding drinking water in this trek isn’t hard. You can expect spring water that you can treat.
Spring waters have many contaminants. You’d need to filter or use an iodine tablet, or UV treat it before drinking.
The second option is refilling your bottle in tea houses. They boil and filter drinking water, as such, making it 100% contamiant free. The house usually charges a small fee per liter.
The last option is buying bottled water at the small stores on the trail. The prices for the bottle remain reasonable.
