Paldor Peak Climbing Overview
Paldor Peak Climbing is one of the most popular climbs in the extreme southeast of the Ganesh Himal range. It is the connecting point of the high Tiru and Karpu ridges at the head of the Mailung Khola (river).
The climb is considered moderately difficult, and the main route through the glacier is full of crevasses.
When you get to the first place, there are two options to choose from: climb the ridge immediately or use the cracks to scale the 45-degree sloping ridge.
Paldor Peak (5,903 m) can be climbed from the northeast, southeast, west, and southwest ridges. The quickest way to reach Paldor and Ganesh Himal is to drive down to Syabrubesi in the Trishuli Valley.
Our trek begins from Syabrubesi. You cross the Bhote Kosi River, which leads you to the villages of Tangjet and Gatlang, which are predominantly Tamang hamlets. From here, we head northwards along the ridge before the river plunges into the forest above the Mailung Khola. The moraine-filled valley just below the Paldor can be reached after a day’s walk.
After you reach the summit, you will find yourself at one of the world’s most beautiful places and can have mesmerizing views of the Ganesh Himal peaks, Langtang Lirung (7227 m), and Manaslu (8156 m).
From here, you can also view some of the mountains on the Tibetan side that include Shishapangma (8013 m). You can also see one of the tributaries of the River Trishuli.
Himalayan Trekkers offers a full board package for Paldor Peak climbing. It includes a climbing permit from NMA and all other necessary logistics from arrival to departure from Kathmandu.
