Kathmandu Day Tour Overview

Overview

The Kathmandu Day Tour provides a blend of the cultural, historical, and religious melting pot. The Kathmandu Day Tour is a history, culture, and spiritual tour that transports you through the city’s deep cultural and historical heritage. Ranging from the towering ancient temples that give Kathmandu its architectural aesthetics to the vibrant markets that add the heartbeat of the city, this tour covers all that a traveler wants to experience in one day in Kathmandu. The journey of visiting the most important and famous places in Kathmandu begins with the Swoyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple which is located on a hilltop providing a beautiful view of the valley below and then we proceed to the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a world heritage site which is filled with palace, temples, and courtyard that brings alive the history of Nepal.

Continuing from the magnetically rich Durbar Square, one progresses to Ason and Indra Chowk, which are renowned business districts, where you can find food markets and other basic needs shopping centers. These colorful facades are both commercial spaces to shop but also areas that have a rich history and cultural importance that can give you a glimpse into the lives of Kathmandu citizens. Adding a contemporary feel to the conventional touring, a stroll through Thamel which is a popular tourist destination due to its vibrant nightlife, gift shops, and international cuisine is refreshing if not exciting.

Then follows the visit to Boudha, which is among the largest stupas in the operational world and holds the Tibetan Buddhism culture. The stupa’s atmosphere is highly spiritual with prayer flags flying and monks reciting prayer mantras; therefore it can make for a great escape from the busy city. The Kathmandu Day Tour also includes the sightseeing of Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple of Nepal which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Sitting on the Bank of the Bagmati River, this site has a religious significance to the Hindus across the globe.

Besides these attractions, there is another stop traditionally missed on tourist maps: Shree Gha (Kathe Swoyambhunath). Situated in the proximity of Thamel, this is a comparatively smaller stupa that is religious, possesses historical significance, and is less commercialized than others. The importance is in the tranquility of the place that is ideal for some break in your sightseeing and in taking a feel of the deep religious culture and identity of the Kathmandu Valley.

This is not just a one-day tour to view landmarks but to explore the rich history and culture of the mesmerizing city of Kathmandu. If you are an adventurer who wants to discover great sites, or a traveler interested in the local colors, this tour is for you.

Best time for the Kathmandu City Tour

The Kathmandu City Tour can be done throughout the year as the city has different things to offer in different seasons. However, if we were to focus on the best months of the year, then it is worth recalling the spring season, which is from March to May, as well as the autumn, which lasts from September to November. These are normally festive months characterized by favorable weather conditions, which include relatively moderate temperatures and sunny skies for travel and other such activities. Spring yields colorful flowers and foliage while autumn offers clear visibility of the surrounding hills and mountains.

However, for those traveling with heavy luggage and for better climatic conditions, it is wise to avoid the monsoon season which is around June to August but there is also lots of tourism done in the winter season especially from December up to February. Nevertheless, the temperatures are not very low in the Kathmandu valley, and the weather is mostly cloudy with good visibility for sightseeing during the day. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that autumn and spring remain the most preferred seasons for the most optimal living experience.

Kathmandu City Tour difficulty level

The Kathmandu City Tour package does not require any specific strength level or barriers to innovation in any way so that travelers can involve themselves in the tour at any age. Despite the specific type of the tour, it can be classified as leisure and appropriate for any type of traveler.
