Upper Mustang is a dry and desert-like landscape. So it gets very cold during winter, and travelers are not advised to travel to the region during winter.
Upper Mustang Helicopter Permit & Entrance Cost
Upper Mustang lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area. Since the region is prohibited due to its ancient values, special permits are required to visit. They can be obtained from a Government-authorized agency from Nepal Immigration.
The travelers will have to confirm the trip. They need to provide the required documents to the travel operator in advance. The permits will be applied for, and all the documents will be ready before you visit Nepal. You will get the permits from immigration upon arrival with your valid passport.
Similarly, individual travelers cannot get permits. There should be at least two travelers, and a group permit will be provided by Nepal Immigration. The special permit will cost USD 500 per person, and the Annapurna Conservation Area entrance costs USD 30 per person.
There is also a compulsion to take a professional guide with you. From Jomsom, a Nepal Government security person will travel further with you. It is mandatory from Jomsom.
Upper Mustang helicopter tour cost for a group is USD 4,000 from Pokhara and USD 5,000 from Kathmandu. But the prices may change sometimes, as per the conditions and Government rules. Himalayan Trekkers will provide you with prior notice regarding it.
Since this is a luxury tour, one may think of joining a group, but you will have to tell us in advance, and we will try our best to find one. But we are not sure because the Upper Mustang Heli Tour is not a regular happening trip.

The Upper Mustang Helicopter Tour is comparatively short and yet incredibly interesting. The trip takes approximately 4 hours of valuable time. For this reason, food is not covered by the tour package.
However, if you plan to have a meal before or after the flight, this can be arranged. It depends on your preference.

As a helicopter ride tour, bottled water is available during the flight. As such, passengers do not need to worry about drinking water. After we land in Upper Mustang, you can also buy drinking water in local stores and teahouses.
