Best time for Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Hike

Spring and autumn are the king seasons for any hike and trek in Nepal because of pleasant weather, clear skies, and routes in the best condition. However, some hikes and treks can be done in the summer/monsoon and winter seasons too. Likewise, spring which starts in mid-march and ends in May, and autumn from mid-September to November is considered to be the peak season for the Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Hike. But, this short hike can be done any time of the year. Only monsoon could be challenging but not impossible.

These villages located on the outskirts of the capital are hugely covered with red Rhododendrons and other flowering blooms in spring with fresh and cold water streams. The skies are blue and clear with the wonderful Himalayas and surrounding visibility.

Autumn welcomes perfect post-monsoon Himalayan vistas, dense forests, and a fresh environment. The farms are filled with rice paddy ready to be harvested and the whole country gets ready to greet the biggest festivals of Nepal during this time. The hiking routes are perfectly stated and are filled with happy trekkers and hikers during spring and summer.

Monsoon and winter are also options for those adventure seekers who are daring. The route is always open. But be sure to face wet slippery routes, rainy days, intriguing leeches, big streams, and wild rivers in the monsoon. Winter is just cold. The chances of snowfall are very light on this route.

Based on the hikers’ interests and requirements, Himalayan Trekkers can organize the journey any time of the year.

A Trip I'll Never Forget for all the Right Reasons

We went on a 5 day trip to Nepal in early December and were greeted with the friendliest of people. We did two days of trekking to Chisopani and Nargarkot and spent the rest of our time in Kathmandu and the Thamel area. We felt extremely safe the whole time thanks to the assistance of our fantastic guides BK (our trekking guide), Madhav (our cultural guide) and our driver. Seeing the Himalaya mountains was very special, beautiful and breathtaking. But I think I liked the cultural part of Nepal best. I had not expected such a wealth of history and monumental sights.

Huge thank you to Raj who accommodated our every request. It was certainly a trip I'll never forget and wouldn't hesitate going back there in the future.

Trek Kathmandu to Sunadarijal

Trek in Kathmandu Valley

I've used to the advice of Raj, of Himalayan Trekkers, a local guide from Kathmandu, for a 3-day trek in the Kathmandu Valley. Raj was super friendly, answered every one of my questions, offered help, and welcomed me at the airport. He was very kind and very customer service oriented. I even met his two lovely daughters and we visited a temple together.

I've done the trek "Chisapani - Nagarkot - Dhulikel" during 3 days. I wouldn't recommand to sleep in Chisapani, there is nothing left there after the earthquake (I feel very sad writing this for the lovely people who still own the only tea house there, they lost their small village). Especially if you are alone, bring a book to read. The weather wasn't good the first day so I didn't get to see the landscape, but as we went closer to Nagarkot the landscapes were beautiful. Very enjoyable. I also walked in small village, ate at some habitants' house and it was very typical and local. Fresh food from their gardens!

Kathmandu Valley might not the most impressive place in Nepal, with all the amazing treks that the country has to offer. But for someone who has short time and must stay around Kathmandu, I definitely recommand. Very much enjoyable.

I would also recommand Raj and my private guide was also very good and helpful. Nepal was wonderful with lovely people. A must do !!!
