Our Nepal and Tibet Fly in Fly Tour is an exciting and one of the popular ones offering the highlights of Nepal and Tibet. After spending 6 days in Nepal, you fly from Kathmandu across the mighty Himalayas to Lhasa.

This 11-days magical journey takes you to the popular and important landmarks in the Kathmandu Valley, rich in natural heritages with the Himalayas as a backdrop in Pokhara, and the oldest national park of Nepal, Chitwan National Park that houses many endangered wildlife, birds, flora and fauna. The next half of this itinerary is covered with a guided sightseeing tour around the majestic Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Potala Palace, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, and the bustling Barkhor Streets are the prime attractions of  Lhasa.

Finally, you fly back to Kathmandu and this impressive journey ends here.

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu (1,400m) & half-day sightseeing
30 min private drive

Upon arriving at the Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted and escorted to your accommodation by a Himalayan Trekkers representative. 

After a brief rest and lunch, your half-day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley starts from the most important Hindu site in Nepal namely Pashupatinath Temple. After exploring the temple, we will head towards Boudhanath Stupa which is the biggest stupa in the country representing Tibetan Buddhism.

In the evening, you can roam around the streets of the Thamel area.

Day 2: Fly/drive to Pokhara
30 mins flight/6-7 hrs drive

After a warm breakfast, we begin our journey to the second largest city of Nepal, Pokhara. You can opt to fly or drive to the city. 

If you choose to fly to Pokhara, you will have guided sightseeing of the city including its popular and important landmarks. Some of the top attractions of the city are, Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Gupteshowr Cave, Tibetan Refugee Camp, World Peace Pagoda, and Bindabasini Temple. 

You can have a romantic walk on the lakeside or go boating in Phewa Lake in the evening.

Day 3: Hike to Sarangkot & Pokhara tour
2-3 hrs hike

Early in the morning, we will have a short hike to Sarangkot, one of the best hill stations in Nepal to observe sunrise and sunset above the thriving snow-capped peaks. After observing the glamorous sunrise view, we return to the hotel for breakfast. Then, you begin your Pokhara exploration tour. Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Shanti Stupa, Tibetan Refugee Camp, and Bindabasini are the top attractions here.

Day 4: Drive to Chitwan
6 hrs drive

We bid farewell to Pokhara and drive to Chitwan. 

After lunch and a brief rest at the hotel, we will take a walk through the settlement of the Tharu people, one of the indigenous groups in Nepal. 

In the evening, we will attend the Tharu Cultural Program where a collection of many different Tharu dances are performed.

Day 5: Chitwan National Park exploration day
1 Hour

The whole day is to explore the oldest national park of Nepal, Chitwan National Park. We will take a jungle walk in the morning for bird-watching as it houses many endangered birds. You can also go canoeing in the Budi Rapti River if you are interested. Otherwise, we can go for a jeep safari/elephant safari. We also visit the Elephant Breeding Center. If the time permits, we can also visit the Crocodile Breeding Center.

Day 6: Drive back to Kathmandu
6-7 hrs drive

We drive back to the Kathmandu valley. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 7: Fly to Lhasa
1 hour+ flight & 30 min drive

After a 2 and half hours flight, we will arrive at Gongar Airport and half an hour drive from where we will reach Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet. In the evening we will stroll around the old city to experience the local lifestyle and monuments of Lhasa.

Day 8: Lhasa tour day 1
1 Hour

Your guided sightseeing begins from the Potala Palace which was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959. It is one of the holiest complexes of Tibetan Buddhism and also the highest palace on the globe. 

Then, we will move to Jokhang Temple, the holiest Buddhist temple in Tibet which hoses a life-sized image of Lord Buddha. It was built in the 7th century at the center of the old Lhasa town surrounded by Barkhor Street, an ancient round street. 

After exploring the temple, we will take around at the must-see Barkhor Street that offers the original outlook of Lhasa.

Day 9: Lhasa tour day 2
1 Hour

Today we will visit Norbulingka Palace, the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas. This UNESCO World Heritage Site palace has a complex different from most of the monasteries in Tibet. 

We will also visit the popular Drepung Monastery, the most significant monastery in Tibetan history, It is one of the three great Gelug monasteries along with Sera and Ganden monasteries. 

The last sightseeing spot will be Sera Monastery, one of the most beautiful monastery complexes. It was the second-largest monastery in the world which resided more than 9,000 monks.

Day 10: Depart Lhasa (fly to onward destination/back to Kathmandu)

Our Tibetan representative will escort to you the Gonggar Airport and bid farewell.

You can choose to fly to your onward destiation or back to Kathmandu city. 

If you fly back to Kathmandu, we can arrange a half-day sightseeing in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath Temple, and old markets.
