Mountain Biking around Kathmandu allows you to enjoy the hidden corners around the valley rarely frequented by adventure lovers, giving you a chance to see the other side of the valley.

Cycling through rural villages on the edge of the valley on the back trails with twists and turns, this 9 days trip gives you plenty of time to soak up your peaceful surroundings and is an ultimate adventure sport.

This cycling includes a tour in the city to the famous, popular medieval and historical sites of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan, to the viewpoints - Nagarkot and Kakani, the quiet and peaceful town of Sankhu and Budhanilkantha.

This fascinating biking tour takes you to the little-visited area of rural pockets on and off the edge of the Kathmandu valley, cycling off-road to the paved road and through the rice terraces with magnificent long distant views of a series of snow-capped peaks different mountain ranges.

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
30 min private drive

A Himalayan Trekkers' representative will meet you at the airport and drop you at your hotel after you land at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. You check-in at the hotel, freshen up and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 2: Introduction with bikers & Kathmandu sightseeing
1 Hour

You will meet fellow bikers in the Himalayan Trekkers office with a guide and supporting staff with enjoying tea/coffee.

After meeting you will enjoy the sightseeing of some renowned landmarks of the Kathmandu valley like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Local market, Swayambhunath (Monkey temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 3: Scenic ride to Kakani
1 Hour

After enjoying breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic ride to Kakani with the bikers’ group of Himalayan Trekkers.

After reaching Kakani you will witness the smiling mountains, scenic views of green hills, valleys and will also explore the park.

Overnight.

Day 4: Scenic ride to Budanilkantha & back to Kathmandu
1 Hour

With delicious breakfast, you will ride down the hill to visit Budhanilkantha, a pilgrimage site with a sleeping idol of Lord Vishnu.

On the way down, you will enjoy the ride in the trail between woods and visit the temple of Budhanilkantha. After visiting a temple, ride back to the hotel.

Day 5: Scenic ride to Nagarkot via Bhaktapur Durbar Square
1 Hour

Today you will ride to a popular hill-station via exploring the ancient Bhaktapur durbar square; now a popular museum.

1st portion of today’s ride will be to the Bhaktapur durbar square area where you will witness the great temples, palaces, local’s lifestyle, culture, and other artificial attractions. you will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.

Then you will continue the uphill ride to Nagarkot. Reaching Nagarkot, you will visit the view-tower for sunset view with amazing valleys and mountains on the backdrop.

Night halt.

Day 6: Scenic ride to Namo-buddha via Dhulikhel
1 Hour

By enjoying scenic mountain views and sunrise with delicious breakfast, you will continue to ride to Namo-buddha via Dhulikhel.

You will ride across different local villages, green forests of pine and juniper woods, and enjoy a scenic view of mountains and hills. Stopping for a short break at Dhulikhel, you will again continue a scenic uphill ride to Namo-buddha for a night halt.

You can explore the Namo-buddha monastery area in the evening, witness the prayers of the monks, and know the mythological story of that area. You can also visit a local village if you have a good time available.

Day 7: Ride to Kathmandu after exploring Balthali & Panauti
1 Hour

Following the downhill trail, you will ride back to Kathmandu by exploring Balthali and Panauti.

After a warm breakfast, you will ride downhill to reach a small valley called Shanku which leads the trail to Balthali. After exploring Balthali for a short period of time, you will continue your ride to Panauti.

You will visit Panauti for about an hour and then ride back to Kathmandu via the old track of Banepa.

Day 8: Free day
1 Hour

You can use this time by visiting souvenir shops or by enjoying a ride to southern cities like Khokana, Bungmati, Pharping, Champadevi and many others.

In the evening, farewell dinner with the team of Himalayan Trekkers in an authentic Nepali restaurant.

Day 9: Departure Kathmandu
30 min private drive

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel to catch your scheduled flight to the Airport with an assessment of the Himalayan Trekkers representative.

In general, we arrange a 3* Standard Category Accommodations with all facilities in cities. If available, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option or upgrade to a more luxurious hotel by paying a little extra.

Although all places during your trek do not have all modern facilities (especially at higher altitudes), we ensure that it is arranged safely and comfortably. Mostly hygienic and safe tea houses / local lodges/homestays are arranged & please feel free to personalize according to your preference.

If your travel schedule includes camping or if you choose to experience it, a correct campsite will be determined in advance and everything will be taken care of. If required, we also provide equipment such as a tent, cookware, etc. Check the equipment lists and equipment lists for more information.

Meals

Breakfast is usually included with your accommodation within the costs. Meals in the city must be paid separately. Often in the cities, you can choose from many different cuisines and varied food services. We can always help you find the right place.

Remote areas don't have that many options, but hygienic and well-prepared food is always served. Moreover, most meals are included in the costs during your trek. We can help you make changes according to your preference and budget, but only if choices are available! Moreover, Himalayan Trekkers also organize Welcome of Farewell Dinners as a symbol of warm greetings.
