Mardi Himal Short Trek Overview

Mardi Himal has been well known to those who love the outdoors and like to camp among the elements. A limited number of tea houses have been established throughout the trail that allow trekkers to have a comfy, warm resting place and can enjoy well-prepared meals without having to cook for themselves.

These 6 days Mardi Himal Short Trek goes through the lesser-traveled routes of the Annapurna region. Located towards the east of the Annapurna Base Camp and sitting virtually at the base of Mount Fishtail, the captivating wilderness and charming nature will surely be able to etch a permanent mark on your heart.

This short trek package is designed for those trekkers having limited time and want to explore the least explored Mardi Himal Base Camp, plus want to have some taste of the Annapurna region.

Mardi Himal (peak) is truly a hidden gem, standing at 5587 meters. Though it is a mountain peak below 6000 meters, its beauty is eye-catching and mesmerizing. It lies 20 kilometers north of Pokhara and in the southernmost part of the Annapurna mountain range.

There are plenty of rhododendron and bamboo forests on the trail and in the surrounding valleys. The route gives you the best view of Mt. Machhapuchhre and stupendous Mt. Annapurna.

Mardi Himal Short Trek Route

Our trek starts from Pokhara to Pitam Deurali, where you take a rest overnight. On the second day, you trek to low camp, then to Mardi high camp and base camp on the third and fourth day, respectively.

You then trek back to low camp to Siding and finally back to Pokhara. The walking distance is shorter in comparison to other trekking routes in Nepal. There is a limited number of guest houses and tea houses, but you also have an option to stay at a camp( on request, with extra cost).

When is the best season for the Mardi Himal Short Trek?

The best seasons for trekking in Nepal are Spring and Autumn. Firstly, the post-winter season, Spring, offers clear and comfortable weather. Spring begins in March and ends in May. Booking a short trek between these months offers you the optimal trekking experience.

The second-best season to trek is during autumn. Fall in Nepal comes after the summer or Monsoon season. As such, it begins in September and ends in November. During autumn, trekkers and visitors find the trails and weather in Nepal clear and pristine. Travelers, get a clear view of the peaks and mountains. Both Spring and Autumn are prime trekking seasons in Nepal.

Can you trek Mardi Himal during Winter? The short answer is yes. Unlike the peak season, you face a myriad of challenges. Likewise, which season should I avoid in the Mardi Himal Trek? Summer/Monsoon is to be avoided for most treks in the Himalayas. During the rainy season, you can face landslides, leeches, and other unwanted situations.

We book only the best options in and out of the route. So, rest assured, the tea house or lodge we book will be clean, hygienic, and comfortable. But not all places may have all the modern facilities. All the essential facilities are arranged.

Meals During Mardi Himal Short Trek

During the Mardi Himal Short trek, you can expect to find most cuisines fromaround the world. You can have the Nepali staple Dal Bhat and Momo. Also, travelers can find dishes from the neighboring country. Trekkers can find Indian, Tibetan, and Chinese cuisine at the tea houses and restaurants en route.

Drinking Water

Water is important in daily life, more so during treks in the Himalayas. Finding drinking water in the Mardi Himal Short trek isn’t hard. You can expect spring water that you can treat. Spring waters have many contaminants. You’d need to filter or use an iodine tablet, or UV treat it before drinking.

The second option is refilling your bottle in tea houses. They boil and filter drinking water, as such, making it 100% contamiant free. The house usually charges a small fee per liter. The last option is buying bottled water at the small stores on the trail. The prices for the bottle remain reasonable.
