TheEastern Tibet Tour is the most demanding tour in the present scenario as it leads travelers to enjoy the various attractions of majestic Tibet. Tibet is also known as "the roof of the world", so you can easily guess the weather of this beautiful and amazing country.

The tour starts from Lhasa and proceeds to Nyingtri, Tso, Rawok, Chamdo, Nagqu, Namtso and returns to Lhasa. During your trip, you will be exploring amazing monasteries, ancient palaces, settlements, lakes, high passes, gorges, alpine forests with majestic mountain views and scenic beauty of nature.

During your trip, you will also taste the delicious local cuisines, make prayers in monasteries, listen to the fairy tale, know about the history of Tibet, experience the culture of Buddhist and Bon people, and many more.

As this tour can be done all over the year, it's better to experience it in spring and autumn. Summer could be an alternative but don’t explore in winter as it will be very cold.

Itinerary

Arrival on: Lhasa

Departure from: Lhasa

Day 1

Arrival in Lhasa (3600m)

After your arrival in Lhasa, a representative of Himalayan Trekkers will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. You can explore around or take rest as you have a long flight.

Day 2

Full-day Lhasa sightseeing

Meals included: Breakfast

After your warm breakfast, you will get ready for sightseeing. You will explore the Potala Palace and will spend about 2 hours’ time exploring the majestic palace where Dalai Lama and other Buddhist icons used to live.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Jokhang temple which is full of attractions like images and statues of protectors, lamas, enlightened beings with many historical tales. You can also see monks being involved in their prayers and activities.

In the evening, you can explore Barkhor street which is a very popular market for Tibetan people. You can also taste some yak butter and Tibetan tea.

Day 3

Excursion of Drepung and Sera monastery

Meals included: Breakfast

Today you will visit the largest monastery with almost ten thousand monks staying there; Drepung monastery. In the Tibetan language, the Drepung monastery means the monastery of collecting rice. You will explore this wonderful attraction, take some memorable pictures and move towards the next destination.

During afternoon time, you will be taken for another monastery tour which is named Sera monastery. The environment of the monastery is pretty and you can see lots of planted rose in a monastery. You can also enjoy a small hike for beautiful valley scenery.

Return back to the hotel.

Day 4

Drive to Bayi via Draksum Tso

Meals included: Breakfast

Today you will leave Lhasa and enjoy your scenic drive to Nyingchi. You will get amazing scenic beauties throughout the drive as you will be traveling along the Niyang River.

After a brief rest, you will have a short drive to Draksum Tso (Basum Tso), a lake with beautiful natural beauty and popular attraction of the trail. It is also the location where Guru Rinpoche stayed for meditation.

You will visit the Tsodzong monastery and go back to take rest.

Day 5

Bayi tour; Gelug & Lamaling monastery and cypresses park

Meals included: Breakfast

After your delicious breakfast, you will have a scenic drive to explore two different monasteries which are located 18 miles southern from Bayi. Both of them are the ancient attractions of Tibet. The monasteries are the Gelug monastery and the Lamaling monastery.

You will also visit naturally preserved cypresses park where you can see 2500 years old cypresses. Return back to the hotel.

Day 6

Drive to Bomi via Lunang forest

Meals included: Breakfast

Today's drive will be more interesting as you will be driving across the high passes, alpine forest, beautiful valley with great snowcapped mountains.

You will cross Serkhym-la pass (4500m) which provides you the great views of Namche Barwa, Gyala Pelri with majestic mountains. After spending a short time capturing amazing pictures, you will continue the scenic drive via Lunang forest with amazing Rhododendron trees and pine trees.

Overnight.

Day 7

Drive to Pasho via Rawok Tso

Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic drive to Pasho. On the way, you can lot of glaciers, snowcapped mountains, alpine forests, small villages. You will stop to explore Rawok Tso (Lake) which is very popular among travelers.

Overnight.

Day 8

Drive to Chamdo via Pomda Grassland

Meals included: Breakfast

Today's drive will take you to the Chamdo. On the way, you will observe the amazing villages, chortens, snowcapped mountains, forests, grassland.

You will cross the Zar Gama-la pass (4618m) motorable pass. After descending for a pass you will come across the grassy plain.  Overnight.

Day 9

Drive to Riwoche via Jampaling Monastery

Meals included: Breakfast

Early morning walk around Chamdo. It is a trade center and administrative area of the Kham region. You will also explore the Jampaling Monastery located on a hilltop.

From then, you will continue your drive to Riwoche via Zholpel-la pass (4688m). Overnight.

Day 10

Drive to Tengchen via Riwoche Monastery

Meals included: Breakfast

You will explore the Riwoche monastery in the morning and then continue off-road drive to Dengchen. Dengchen is the center of Boen religion based on ancient witchcraft, worship of God and ghost. You will also explore Tengchen and Ritro Lhakhang.

Overnight.

Day 11

Drive to Sok via Tsuri-la & Shel-la Pass

Meals included: Breakfast

Today's drive will be to Sok where you will reach by crossing the amazing passes with beautiful views. The passes you will cross are Tsuri la pass (4200m) and Shel la pass (4750m).

After crossing those passes you will further enjoy scenic drive till you reach your overnight destination Sok.

Sok refers to Mongolia in the Tibetan language.

Day 12

Explore Sok Tsanden Gompa & drive to Nagchu

Meals included: Breakfast

After breakfast, you will visit Sok Tsanden Zhol village, Nyimpa sect monastery, Sok Tsanden Gompa. After exploring that attraction, you will continue your drive onward to reach Nagchu.

On the way to Nagchu, you will cross the passes and reach the city of Shakshuka and then to Nagchu for overnight stay.

Day 13

Drive to Lake Namtso

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Scenic and short drive to Lake Namtso and you will build your camp at Tashi Dorie Peninsula for overnight stay. In the day time, you can explore around the lake from where you can see the Nyianchentangula peak (7162m).

The evening view of a lake with a peak will be your wallpaper for a long time and take lots of pictures.

Day 14

Drive back to Lhasa

Meals included: Breakfast

After enjoying delicious breakfast with an amazing view of the lake, peak, and sunrise, get ready to return back to Lhasa. If you want then you can also enjoy small hike to Lake Shore where meditation cave is located.

After returning back to Lhasa, take rest or go for shopping souvenirs for your friends and relatives. Overnight.

Day 15

Departure

Meals included: Breakfast

You can stroll around the local market for souvenirs, taste local food and pack your goods as it is the day of departure. A Himalayan Trekkers representative will be there to drop at the airport for your connecting flight back to your hometown.

If you have more leisure time than, you can explore Nepal, Bhutan, and India too with Himalayan Trekkers.

Himalayan Trekkers promises to manage the best, most comfortable and preferable accommodation.

Generally, in cities like Lhasa, we arrange basic three-star facilities. If available, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option or upgrade to a more luxurious hotel by paying a little extra. 

Although all the places might not have all the modern facilities, we will make sure to arrange safe and comfortable accommodation. In general, hygienic and safe tea houses/local lodges/ home-stays with all the basic facilities are arranged. But you can, if possible, personalize according to your preference. 

Meals

Breakfast is usually included with your B&B Accommodation within the cost that is evident. For other meals in the city, you would have to pay separately. Often in the cities, you can choose from many different cuisines and varied food services. We can always help you find the right place to fit your taste.

In more remote areas, usually, there are not many options. But you can always find hygienic and well-prepared food. Moreover, almost all the meals during the trek are included in the cost. We can help you make changes according to your preference and budget, but only if choices are available!

On top of that, Himalayan Trekkers also organizes Welcome or Farewell Dinners as a symbol of warm greetings.
