Dhaulagiri Expedition Overview

Dhaulagiri is one of the most renowned and seventh-highest peaks above 8,000m. The literal meaning of Dhaulagiri in Sanskrit is a giant mountain of immaculate ice and snow, towering above the local landscape at an altitude of over 7,000m. It is located in the northwest of Pokhara City of western Nepal, bordered by Tibet to the south.

Dhaulagiri was first scaled by the Swiss team through the North East Ridge in 1960 and is considered one of the most difficult peaks for an expedition.

The route to the expedition has more than six alternative paths. The regular path is taken as a sensible climb with only short methodological hiking parts and moderate risk.

The attempt from the west and south faces of Dhaulagiri has huge drops: each climbs over 4,000m from its base, and each has been the place of heroic climbs.

The complicated scenery of ridges, icefalls, and glaciers is created by the widening of thirty miles. Many pyramid-shaped mountains rise along the major peak. Four of the peaks, numbered from east to west, are elevated above 25,000 ft.

How is the Expedition Organized?

Himalayan Trekkers' approach to climbing will be cautious and well-timed, with excellent leadership, organization, and experienced Sherpa climbers.

Equipment like radios, satellite telephones, walkie-talkie will be on hand for all the team leaders and Sherpa climbers.

Cooks and waiters, a full kitchen in base camp, top-quality high altitude tents and high altitude stoves, expedition mix gas, and full safety equipment such as medical oxygen, Gamow bag, and an extensive medical kit are all-inclusive.

Experienced guides and the support crew from Himalayan Trekkers will try their level best to make your journey a lifetime memory.

Although not all the places might have all the modern facilities, we will make sure to arrange safe and comfortable accommodation. In general, hygienic and safe tea houses/local lodges/home-stays with all the basic facilities are arranged. But you can, if possible, personalize according to your preference.

If your itinerary includes camping or you choose to experience camping during your travel, a proper camping site will be pre-decided. If required, we also provide the basic equipment, which is refundable. Please check the Gear-List for more information.

Breakfast is usually included with your B&B Accommodation within the cost that is evident. For other meals in the city, you would have to pay separately. Often in the cities, you can choose from many different cuisines and varied food services. We can always help you find the right place to fit your taste.

In more remote areas, usually, there are not many options. But you can always find hygienic and well-prepared food. Moreover, almost all the meals during the trek are included in the cost. We can help you make changes according to your preference and budget, but only if choices are available!
