Cho Oyu Expedition Overview
Mount Cho Oyu is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating mountains for an expedition. The summit rewards you with bewildering views of the majestic Mt. Everest and the surrounding peaks at an altitude of 8,201 m.
Cho Oyu means "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan and is the sixth-highest mountain in the world. It stands with pride on the Nepal-China border. Plus, it is relatively the easiest peak to climb for the professionals.
The most important factor to succeed is practice and good preparation, in our attempt as higher altitudes have reduced oxygen. As always, on a challenging conquest, you have to fight the surroundings and push yourself outside your comfort zone to be rewarded with the title of conquering Mount Cho Oyu.
Plan of Action
We will set up a total of three camps to help you acclimatize well to the rising heights. Our team of Sherpa porters will take the load and carry food, tents, oxygen, and other things required.
Our first base camp is at 4,900 m, and from there we will travel to the Advanced Base Camp at 5,800 m. Once you are in the Advanced Base Camp, the equipment to be carried needs to be sorted, as further in the journey, you will get to two other camps.
The highest camp would be set at 7,450 m, and the camp on your way back at 7,150 m. From the highest camp, you will attempt the summit at 8,201 m and from there come back to the next camp at 7,150 m.
Though the Cho Oyu is a life-changing experience, the staggering elevation and the challenging trail can be life-threatening as well. To be qualified for the climb, you require previous experience of climbing a minimum of 6,000 m peaks.
Things to Consider:
There are a lot of things to consider before you plan, as you must be comfortable with the equipment and its methods. Using fixed lines, climbing with Jumars, and abseiling are some really vital things to know. Camping, food preparation, and knowledge of survival and climbing techniques are extremely needed for this journey.
We suggest you come prepared and be proficient at your methods, and the previous experience of attempting a high climb will help you conquer the stupendous beauty of the Cho Oyu Peak.
You are surely going to have a safe and wonderful experience, as we always prioritize your safety first.
