Itinerary

Arrival on: Paro.

Departure from: Paro

Day 1

Arrival at Paro.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After arrival at Paro, a representative from Himalayan trekkers will greet, meet and transfer you to the hotel where you will be staying overnight.

During the flight, you will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, and other famous Himalayan peaks. Overnight.

Accommodation: Hotel Estimated Walking Distance: 30 min private drive.

Day 2

Hike to Tiger nest monastery and scenic drive to Thimpu.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Drive and hike to Taktsang Monastery. Taktsang is one of the most venerated pilgrim sites of the Himalayan world which is also called as Tiger nest monastery.

After lunch, scenic drive to Thimpu, capital of Bhutan.

Overnight.

Accommodation: Hotel Estimated Walking Distance: 3-4 hrs hike and 2 hrs drive.

Day 3

Thimpu sightseeing.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, you will have guided sightseeing of Thimpu. You will explore the King’s Memorial Chorten, Nunnery Temple, Changgangkha Monastery, Majestic Thimphu Dzong, etc. Besides that, we also go to the Central zoo to see the animals over there and among them the Takin, a goat-antelope is a major attraction as it is the national animal of Bhutan.

In the afternoon visit the Weekend market famous for all kinds of local products ranging from handicrafts to vegetables. You can also visit the radio tower on a hilltop, which offers a panoramic view of Thimpu city.

Day 4

Scenic drive to Punakha and explore.

We start the day in the morning with a drive to Punakha via Dochu La (3,100m). This town derives its name from the river on whose banks it is situated, the Punakha River. We will make a brief visit to the fertility temple known as Chimi Lhakhang. You can receive blessings of fertility with a phallus (Symbolic representation of male sexual organ) from the Lama.

Upon arrival at Punakha, we will have lunch and visit the Punakha Zhong in the evening. Overnight.

Day 5

Scenic drive to Bumthang (2,850m).

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

With a good breakfast, we will enjoy a scenic and long drive today. Enroute we will cross the highest point of this trip the Pele La pass at 3300m. We will stop at Rongsa after 3 and a half hours for our daily meal. We will also visit the nearby Dzong with the same name.

As we continue our drive we will stop once to see a factory of traditional Bhutanese weaving called Yathras most of them with unique patterns and designs related to Bumthang.

Day 6

Trek to Ngang Lhakhang (2,895m).

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, we start our first day of the trek from Thangbi along the Chamkhar Chu River. Walking ahead on the trail for more than an hour we reach Dangling Lhakhang. Further walking for half an hour ahead we reach our lunch place on the hill. After lunch here we head towards the Ngang Yul literally meaning the Swan’s land. This area used to be full of swans in the past as per the local myths.

Day 7

Trek to Ugyen Choling (2,895m).

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We have a long day ahead of us. The major highlight of the day is the crossing of the Pepe La, the highest point of your trip. The trekking trail passes through the lush green forest and some Yak farms.

By late afternoon we arrive at Ugyen Choling where we will stay overnight.

Day 8

Trek to Jakar (2,745m) and drive back to Bumthang.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, we visit the Ugyen Choling Palace with a large collection of things belonging to the medieval ruling dynasties of Bhutan. We walk down to Kizam and get into our vehicle to go to Bumthang.

On the way, we will visit the Lake of Mebertsho also referred to as the burning lake. This is a holy lake that is frequented by Bhutanese during major festivals and ceremonies.

Overnight.

Accommodation: Hotel Estimated Walking Distance: 3-4 hrs trek and an hour drive.

Day 9

Bumthang tour.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Some of the attractions we visit today include the Jakar Dzong is the office of the government in Jakar, Jambay Lhakhang, a monastery dating back to the 8th century AD, Kurjey Lhakhang Monastery, Tamshing Monastery and other Dzong around the city.

The evening is interesting around the streets of Bumthang.

Day 10

Scenic drive to Wangdue (1,240m).

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Wangdue is a typical Bhutanese village famous for its stone carving situated almost 200km from Bumthang.

The drive will be scenic with lots of beautiful lush green forests, nice scenery and small but interesting Bhutanese settlements. Overnight at Wangdue.

Accommodation: Hotel/guest house/ local lodges Estimated Walking Distance: 5-6 hrs drive

Day 11

Drive back to Paro.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We will cross the Dochula Pass and drive almost 125 km from Wangdue to reach Paro.

A scenic drive across hills, small passes, beautiful settlements by observing culture & smile of Bhutanese people, will add more flavor on your drive.

After reaching Paro, free on your own.

Overnight.

Day 12

Departure from land of thunder dragon.

A representative of Himalayan trekkers will assist and transfer you to the airport for connecting flights back to your home town.

Accommodation

Himalayan Trekkers promises to manage the best, most comfortable and preferable accommodation.

Generally, in cities like Paro, Thimpu, and Punakha, we arrange basic three-star facilities. If available, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option or upgrade to a more luxurious hotel by paying a little extra. 

Although all the places might not have all the modern facilities, we will make sure to arrange safe and comfortable accommodation. In general, hygienic and safe tea houses/local lodges/ home-stays with all the basic facilities are arranged. But you can, if possible, personalize according to your preference. 

Meals

Breakfast is usually included with your B&B Accommodation within the cost that is evident.
For other meals in the city, you would have to pay separately. Often in the cities, you can choose from many different cuisines and varied food services. We can always help you find the right place to fit your taste.

In more remote areas, usually, there are not many options. But you can always find hygienic and well-prepared food. Moreover, almost all the meals during the trek are included in the cost. We can help you make changes according to your preference and budget, but only if choices are available!

On top of that, Himalayan Trekkers also organizes Welcome and Farewell Dinners as a symbol of warm greetings.
