Overview

Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour of Incredible India and Nepal incorporates some of the most sacred sites that depict the entire life of Lord Buddha. On this 13 days pilgrimage tour, you follow the path incorporating from birth to the final years of Lord Buddha.

Lord Buddha (Siddhartha Gautam), often regarded as the Light of Asia, was born to Queen Maya Devi and King Suddhodana at roughly around 563 BCE at Lumbini. This tour also includes Bodhgaya, where Price Siddhartha attained enlightenment after 6 strict years of focused mediation and thus was honored by the name Buddha, which literally means the enlightened one.

Buddha is a purified soul at an ideal state of intellectual and ethical perfection achieved purely by human means.

Throughout this tour, you are taken to an old sacred fig tree (Bodhi tree) where Buddha accomplished enlightenment. This place is very popular and is visited by many Buddhist followers.

You are also taken to the legendary SaptaParni Caves where the first Buddhist council was held.

Himalayan Trekkers has designed this tour for the devotees so that they can visit all the important landmarks and sites of Buddha’s life. Apart from where he was born and where he attained enlightenment, this tour also takes you to Kushinagar where Buddha achieved salvation making it a highly sought-after destination for Buddhists as well as religious enthusiasts.

We visit Nirvana Stupa in Kushinagar. Nirvana Stupa has greater significance because this is where the ashes of Buddha were discovered in a copper vessel.

On your time in Nepal, apart from Lumbini, we visit several places like Maya Devi temple, monasteries built by different Buddhist nations, Bodhi tree, and much more often which cannot be described in words. We then head towards Pokhara where we visit some Bindabasini temple and finally head towards Kathmandu.

Tour Highlights

  • Visit the holy places where Lord Buddha was born (Lumbini), achieved enlightenment (Bodhgaya), and salvation (Kushinagar).
  • Explore Swambhunath and Boudhanath in Kathmandu valley.
  • Dhammek Stupa- a place where Budhha, for the first time, taught his first five followers.
  • Great Buddha Stupa in Bodhgaya blessed by the revered Dalai Lama.
  • Extremely sacred Abishek Pushkarni lake
  • SaptaParni Caves where the first Buddhist meeting was held.
  • Parinirvana temple and Nirvana stupa

Best Season For Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour

We often suggest this Nepal and India Buddhist Tour all year round but the summer. The high temperatures in summer even exceed 45 degrees which is very unpleasing. The best time would be in Autumn. Winter is fine if you can stand some cold climatic conditions.
