Best of Jungle Safari Tour in Nepal Overview
This 7 nights 8 days program takes you to some of the most wildlife-inhabited areas in South Asia. Best of Jungle Safari Tour includes two of the best jungle safari destinations in Nepal - Chitwan National Park and Bardiya National Park.
Chitwan National Park (CNP) is the oldest National park in Nepal, which covers an area of 952.63 sq.km. Situated in the inner Terai lowlands, it was officially established in 1973 and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
Until the early 50s, the national park used to be a royal hunting reserve for the Nepalese and foreign aristocrats. Due to increment of human settlements and poaching activities, endangered animals such as the one-horned rhino and Bengal tigers, strict measures are taken to preserve them.
As CNP was declared a conservation area, it's now home to more than 500 species of wildlife, being the major highlight of this park, and is one of the major tourist destinations in Nepal.
The best Jungle Safari Tour trip starts with a drive to Chitwan from Kathmandu. The activities include Tharu Cultural dance, Tharu Village exploration, Elephant Back Safari, visiting the elephant breeding center, Canoeing, and Bird watching.
Located in the lowlands of western Terai, Bardia National Park was established in 1988, covering an area of 968 sq.km, including the Buffer zone. The Bardia National Park is the habitat of many rare mammals, reptiles, and bird species.
The most notable are the Bengal tiger, the one-horned Rhino, the swamp deer, the Gangetic dolphin, and many more. Similar to other national parks in Nepal, you can do a jeep safari, Elephant safari (nowadays in the Tharu village, as private elephants are not allowed inside the park), bird watching, and canoeing/boating in the Karnali River, the longest river in Nepal.
