The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek with Tibet Tour is an amazing journey, in the classic Annapurna region and in the “land of holiness”, Lhasa of Tibet, a perfect blend of excitement and a thrilling trek experience.

Annapurna Base Camp is one of the most trekked and explored place in the world offering breathtaking views of different Himalayan peaks such as Mount Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), and more.

The journey to ABC (4,130 m) is full of ups and downs in a rough trail taking you through diverse landscapes, vegetation, beautiful mountain villages giving you insights into the culture as well as the lifestyle of the people in the Himalayas in Nepal. Due to the sheer popularity of ABC, the hiking routes are well built and using proper equipment and gears, the trek can be achieved with ease.

We walk through the beautiful rhododendron forest climbing many steps crossing many hills observing the cultures, tasting food, resting, taking photographs, gossips with locals (Magar and Gurung ethnic groups).

ABC trek is the best also for novice trekkers since this route has highly facilitated hotels and motels with good restaurants thus making it also good for family holidays

Our Tibet tour combined with ABC Trek is 20 days in total where 15 days is for the base camp of Annapurna from arrival and back to Kathmandu. 3 days of this tour is dedicated to Lhasa - a culturally and naturally rich city, the capital of Tibet.

Itinerary in Details

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

🕑 30 mins

Max Altitude: 1,350 m

On arriving at the Tribhuwan Interantional Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Himalayan Trekkers will greet you and escort you to the hotel.

Check-in at the hotel and relax. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Full-day Kathmandu tour

🕑 3-4 hrs

Max Altitude: 1,350 m

Your guided sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage Sites begins soon after breakfast.

The first site to explore will be the Pashupatinath Temple located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. It is one of the oldest temples in the country and is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Next, we will drive to one of the largest stupas in South Asia and the largest in Nepal, Boudhanath Stupa. It is also known as "Little Tibet" and the area is hugely influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. 

Later, we will move to Kathmandu Durbar Square, the former Royal Palace, and Swoyambhunath Stupa, one of the sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. 

In the evening, you can check out some of the fooderies, bars, and streets of the Thamel area.

Day 3: Fly/Drive to Pokhara & drive to Phedi, trek to Dhampus

🕑 30 mins flight/6-7 hrs drive, 3-4 hrs drive & 2-3 hrs hike

Max Altitude: 1,700 m

After breakfast, we will drive or fly to Pokhara. (You can choose either flight or driving option based on the cost you want to pay).

After reaching Pokhara drive to Phedi and trek towards Dhampus, a hilly area with a small settlement of the Gurung community. You can witness snowy peaks like Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and Annapurna range from here.

Day 4: Trek to Landrung

🕑 6-7 hrs

Max Altitude: 1,550 m

After breakfast, we will head towards Deurali through Pothana. At this point, you find yourself high up on the East side of the Modi Khola cascading down the Annapurna Circuit Sanctuary surrounded by a complete ambiance of nature.

We will continue walking for 4 hours until we reach Landrung, another interesting Gurung settlement. You can explore the village in the evening or just rest at the hotel witnessing some of the high mountains in the Annapurna region.

Day 5: Trek to Chomrong

🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,100 m

After breakfast, we start to walk along the mountain path of the stone-paved trail, pass through a hamlet, cross a suspension bridge until we cross the dense forest of bamboo. You will find yourself in complete isolation in the middle of nature and lush green forest. 

After walking for some time we will reach Jhinu and stop there for a short break for drinks and snacks. Thereafter we will deviate towards the north and walk for around 4 hours to reach Chomrong. Chomrong is one of the best places to see Mount Fishtail, the virgin peak.

Day 6: Trek to Himalaya Hotel

🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,850 m

After breakfast, we will start walking towards the Himalaya Hotel. We will immediately cross Chomrong Khola, and continue through the rhododendron-covered ridge path, mountainous terrains, and forests of bamboo. The mesmerizing view of the Mountains including Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli will energize you throughout the walk. We will cross Modi Khola and walk further for a few hours until we reach The Himalaya Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Free day for rest

Max Altitude: 2,850 m

You can explore the surrounding villages or rest to save energy for tomorrow's hike which is a bit difficult as we will head towards MBC tomorrow.

Day 8: Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp

🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 3,700 m

We keep on ascending and descending for some time until we reach the Hinku Cave. We will further continue for 3-4 hours and you enter the Annapurna circuit Sanctuary, a huge amphitheater enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks which include Annapurna I, II, III, and IV and the fishtail spire of Machhapuchare. We can find some guest houses at Deurali and Bagar stay in one of those and enjoy the proximity of the mountains.

Day 9: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp & back to Himalaya Hotel

🕑 4-5 hrs

Max Altitude: 4,130 m

On hiking the Annapurna circuit trail for 2 hours, we descend a small ridge branching out from the mountain pass to the mountainside with widespread terraced fields showcasing tranquil meadows and lush fertile farming land.

As you reach Annapurna Base Camp, witness awesome picturesque landscapes, majestic panoramic view of snow-capped mountainous peaks, and varied Himalayan cultural settings tucked beneath the southern slopes of the Annapurna massif. Thereafter, you head back down to Himalaya Hotel.

Day 10: Trek to Chomrong

🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,100 m

The walk today is very exciting as we reach the river bed of Kaligandaki, the deepest gorge in the world which lies between the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri Mountains.

We will follow the trail up the Modi Khola passes for some time through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo across the Annapurna mountain range. We will walk for 5 hours and reach Chomrong overnight today.

Day 11: Trek to Ghandruk

🕑 4-5 hrs

Max Altitude: 1,940 m

Today we start the second leg of the trek to reach Pokhara through Ghorepani and Ghandruk. We will march through flatland, forests, and terraced fields; a suspension bridge comes your way.

On crossing this suspension bridge over Khumbu Khola, you enter the beautiful village of Ghandruk. In Ghandruk you can observe the unique lifestyle and culture of Gurung Community and get an excellent view of the of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchare. Other than hotels and tea houses here camping in the terraced fields can also be an option if you are interested.

Day 12: Trek to Banthanti

🕑 3-4 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,410 m

We will leave Ghandruk and further walk through dense rhododendron forest to Tadapani which is an excellent viewpoint to glimpse a heavenly sight of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Fishtail.

Day 13: Trek to Ghorepani

🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,880 m

From Banthanti, we proceed further along steep trails. Nature spreads the exotic sight of majestic snow-capped mountain peaks, lush vegetation, and rich plant life before us. We climb through the rhododendron forest to Deurali (3,100m) and reach a hamlet and cultivated fields. Continue walking for 3 hours and finally, we will reach Ghorepani.

Day 14: Trek to Nayapul & drive to Pokhara

🕑 6 hrs hike & 1+ hr drive

Max Altitude: 1,070 m

We will hike to Poonhill in, early morning for a sunrise view over the Manaslu range.

Then, after breakfast, we will leave Ghorepani and walk towards Nayapul. We will march through Birethanti to reach Ulleri where a steep descent of 3500 steps leads down to Hille on the Bhurungdi Khola. We can easily access any means of transportation to drive to Pokhara.

In the evening, you are free to wander by the lakes of Pokhara.

Day 15: Fly/Drive to Kathmandu

From Pokhara, you can either fly or drive to Kathmandu.

Day 16: Fly to Lhasa

🕑 1 hour+ flight & 1/2 hour drive

After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport for a scenic flight to Gongar Airport.

A Tibetan representative will greet you and trasfer you to the hotel in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet. In the evening we will stroll around the old city to experience the local lifestyle and monuments of Lhasa.

Day 17: Lhasa exploration day

Max Altitude: 3,660 m

Today, you will have a guided sightseeing of the popular and important spots in Lhasa. The first spot to explore is Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959.  It is one of the grandest Palaces in the world to date.

Then, we will move to Jokhang Temple, a UNESCO World Herotage Site in Lhasa. It is one of the most sacred temples for the pilgrims of Tibetan Buddhism. After spending some time at the Jokhang temple we will walk through the Barkhor Street, a traditional old street in Lhasa.

Day 18: Another full-day Lhasa tour

Max Altitude: 3,660 m

We will start the sightseeing today from Norbulingka - the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas from 1780s to 1959. It is known as the larges human made garden in Tibet. 

The second site is Drepung Monastery, one of the biggest monastery built in the 14th Century. For the time being, it is one of Tibet’s premier monastic educational institutions.

The last site for today is Sera Monastery, built in 1419.  Being one of the grandest  monasteries in Tibet, it was home to more than 5,000 monks and five monastic colleges.

Day 19: Depart to Kathmandu

🕑 1 hour+ flight & 1/2 hour drive

Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and drive to Gonggar Airport for a scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

In case of early arrival, you can choose to go for guided sightseeing in the valley. Otherwise, check-in at the hotel and relax. In the evenig, you will be picked up for a farewell dinner program in an authentic Nepalese restaurant where cultural program is conducted.

Day 20: Final Departure

Generally, in cities like Kathmandu, Pokara, and Lhasa, we arrange basic three-star facilities. If available, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option or upgrade to a more luxurious hotel by paying a little extra. 

Although all the places might not have all the modern facilities, we will make sure to arrange safe and comfortable accommodation. In general, hygienic and safe tea houses/local lodges/ home-stays with all the basic facilities are arranged. But you can, if possible, personalize according to your preference. 

Meals

Breakfast is usually included with your B&B Accommodation within the cost that is evident.

For other meals in the city, you would have to pay separately. Often in the cities, you can choose from many different cuisines and varied food services. We can always help you find the right place to fit your taste.

In more remote areas, usually, there are not many options. But you can always find hygienic and well-prepared food. Moreover, almost all the meals during the trek are included in the cost. We can help you make changes according to your preference and budget, but only if choices are available!
