The oldest national park in Nepal, Chitwan National Park, is located in the hinterlands of the Terai region, which was declared a National Park in 1973. Titled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, the national park was a game reserve for Nepalese and foreign royalty. families until 1951.
Chitwan National Park is known as one of the most exotic destinations for wildlife discovery in Southeast Asia. Covering an area of 952.6 square kilometers, it is famous especially for its 500 one-horned rhinos and other endangered species such as royal Bengal tigers, deer, wild boar and many more. The area is also home to more than 500 species of birds, reptiles, butterflies, and insects with many species of flora.
Our journey to Chitwan National Park begins with a scenic drive from the capital Kathmandu. Some of the main factors in your experiences in Chitwan will be many jungle activities such as Elephant Ride, Boating/ Canoeing, Visit to Elephant Breeding Center, and Bird Watching along with Tharu Culture, its tradition, lifestyle and the beautiful and joyful Tharu Dance.
