Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu is so diverse and plentiful that you can visit and explore its aspects alone for more than a week. From the colorful and lively tourist hub  - Thamel to religiously significant temples like Pashupatinath temple, you will be fascinated by what Kathmandu valley has to offer.

Some of the popular landmarks that have established this valley since ages are Boudhanath stupa, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar square, etc.

Apart from this, the cultural pull of this valley is absolutely ravishing. The ancient architectures, carved pillars, and simply amazing tales behind the temples and stupas of Kathmandu valley will leave you awe-inspired and baffled at the same moment.

Nuwakot

Nuwakot is located 75 Kilometers from the capital city of Kathmandu. Nuwakot homes lovely Nuwakot Durbar with cultural and historical importance. Along with this, Garad Ghar, Ranga Mahal, Taleju temple and Bhairav temple are other unique structures worth giving a shot. The views of Nepal from up here are surreal and exquisite.

The people of Nuwakot belong to different ethnic groups and practice their culture and rituals passed to them from before generations.

Bandipur

At the height of 1030 meters, Bandipur is quite a catch with luxuriant forests, hilltop shrines, tribal settlements and magnetics views. Bandipur is a pristine town with well preserved culture. Every year thousands of tourists opt for Bandipur due to the possibility and multi benefits it provides like sacred caves, mountain vistas and hiking.

Pokhara

The second biggest city of Nepal, the cities of Lake, Nepal’s ultimate leisure / Vacation destination, gateway to Annapurna region, etc. This is how you might have heard of or known about Pokhara. 

The things you can do in Pokhara is eclectic. Starting from boating, relaxing, sightseeing to more adventurous activities like paragliding, bungee, hiking. Pokhara is the perfect spot.

On a sunny and clear day, there’s a good chance that you will see views of marvelous Mount Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) from your hotel.  You can target some astounding beauties like Sarangkot, Davis falls, enigmatic caves in Pokhara. We assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Palpa/Tansen

The serene environment of Tansen town calms one to the core. Moreover, the beautiful hills of Shreenagar and Rani Mahal in Palpa / Tansen are quite a magnet that allure people. The views of Rani Mahal facing Kali Gandaki river is ethereal.

Tansen is the headquarter of Palpa district. The various ethnic group here are Magar, Brahmin, Tamang, Tharu, Newari, Limbu, Chettri and Gurung.

Lumbini

Visit Lumbini for calming your mind and soul and get a new look at Life. Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha who is known worldwide as the light of Asia and the founder of Buddhism. The top attractions of Lumbini are Maya Devi temple, World peace pagoda, Maya Devi Temple, Nepal Buddha temple, Panditarama Vipassana Center etcetera.

Nagarkot

Located 32 Km north east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot is popular for stunning mountain panoramas, very pretty sunrise and sunset views and serene environment. Nagarkot even offers you the views of Mount Everest.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 2: Sightseeing of southern Kathmandu
5-6 hrs

Full day sightseeing of the southern Kathmandu valley including Khokana, Bungmati and Patan Durbar Square.

Khokana and Bungmati - These two Newar Villages are located in the outskirts of the Patan District and are proposed as Tentative UNESCO heritage sites by the Nepal government. Khokana has the temple of Rudryaini and is also famous for the Mustard oil production. Bungmati, 20 minutes walk from Khokana through paddy fields is full of old Newari houses and architecture. These twin villages are one of the best places to experience Nepal’s age-old heritage and to observe the daily life of the People. You will feel like walking in 18th century Europe as you go through these streets.

Patan Durbar Square - Patan unlike most of the other cities in Nepal has the majority of the Buddhist population. The Patan city has more than 136 Buddhist monasteries and only 50 Hindu temples. Patan Durbar Square is famous for the south Indian style, Krishna temple, the sunken bath, the tall temple of Taleju and the golden temple. Patan Durbar Square is also famous for carvings done in metal, wood, and stone.

Day 3: Sightseeing of Boudhanath and Pashupatinath

Full day sightseeing of Kathmandu City covering Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. The walk from Pashupatinath to Boudhanath is an interesting walk through the suburbs of Kathmandu. You see the change in lifestyle from Hindus to Buddhist during this walk of 30 minutes.

Boudhanath Stupa is one of the oldest monuments in Kathmandu valley and one of the first monuments with a written history. One of the biggest pilgrimages for Tibetans the area around this stupa is also known as the little Tibet in Kathmandu. This was listed in the UNESCO’s world heritage site list in 1979 A.D.

Pashupatinath temple is the most important shrine for Hindus in Kathmandu. Although non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple premises, the cremation that takes place around the Pashupatinath temple area is interesting for foreigners. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979 this area has a lot of Sadhus/Hindu holy men who are center of attraction for many foreigners. Make sure you want to pay them if you take their pictures as they ask for money for being photographed.

Day 4: Drive to Nuwakot & explore

Drive to Nuwakot. Afternoon sightseeing of Nuwakot Palace area. Walk around the Nuwakot village in the evening.

Nuwakot lies 75 km from Kathmandu city and is a historically important region. It was the entry point to Kathmandu for the Gurkhas and they invaded it in 2nd attempt, after which they successfully invaded Kathmandu. Besides that, the Nuwakot farmhouse or the Famous farm is a nice accommodation with village-style rooms and a nice environment and friendly staff.

Day 5: Drive to Bandipur & explore

Drive to Bandipur (155km/5 hours). Visit the Thani Mai Temple, Notredamn School and Bandipur Bazaar in the Evening. Overnight at Hotel.

We start the day after breakfast and drive towards Bandipur. A Small village in the Tanahun District, it is a new destination in Nepal with a feel of village life and some cultural attractions. The Bazaar area is lively with old houses and friendly people and gives you a feeling of coming back to 18th century Europe. You can also see the sunset and sunrise over the Manaslu range from Bandipur. Besides Manaslu Annapurna range, Ganesh Himal range and others are also visible from Bandipur

Day 6: Drive to Pokhara

After a warm breakfast at the hotel, we start the 2 hours/55km drive to Pokhara. We will make a few stops on the way as there are lots of places to capture photographs. Rest of the day free around the lakeside.

Day 7: Drive to Sarangkot for sunrise view & Pokhara city tour

Early morning wake up and drive to Sarangkot for sunrise view. After breakfast transfer For Sightseeing of Pokhara city including the Davis fall, Gupteshwor cave, Bindabasani temple, Tibetan refugee camp and Seti river gorge. Free time in the afternoon for exploration.

You will get an early morning wakeup call from the reception as we need to drive 12 km from the city of Pokhara to see the sunrise and the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri range. Your city guide will come to receive you after breakfast and drive towards the Davis fall, named after a Swiss coupled washed away by the waterfall in 1961. Then cross the road and go to the Gupteshwor cave with a self-created statue of Lord Shiva and the view of Davis fall coming down from the other side. 5 minutes' walk from the Gupteshwor cave is the Tibetan refugee camp where you can see Tibetan refugees doing different kinds of work for livelihood such as making carpets, making jewelry with semi-precious stones and selling things to tourists. After spending some time understanding Tibet and its political conditions in the area we head towards the Bindabasani temple and the Seti River gorge.

Day 8: Drive to Palpa/Tansen & explore
4-5 hrs

After breakfast drive to Palpa/Tansen. In the past, Tansen was on the trade route between the plains and the hills. Tansen is between Pokhara (5 hr, 110km) and Sunauli/Bhairwa (2 hr, 55 km), just off the Siddhartha Highway, and is a pleasant place to stop on the way between the two places Please note that there are no 4 star and 5-star hotels in Tansen.

Day 9: Drive to Lumbini & explore

After breakfast, we start the drive to Lumbini (55km/2 hours). Sightseeing of the Maya Devi temple and surrounding monasteries in the evening.

We start our drive from Palpa to Lumbini along the Siddhartha Highway. This is one of the most interesting drives from the plains through the hills to the plains. Along the way, you can see all the geographical features of Nepal from High mountains, Hills and the Terai plains. After reaching Lumbini in the afternoon we rest for a while and set out for the sightseeing of the Maya Devi Garden on foot. There are many monasteries made by different countries and institutions. Among them, the German Monastery by Tara foundation, the Nepal Government Monastery, the Chinese and Korean are the most interesting with a lot of philosophy in them. The birthplace of Buddha is a UNESCO world heritage site and the center of world peace.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu

Day 11: Explore Durbar Squares & drive to Nagarkot

You can decide the time to start the day after discussing it with your city guide. We suggest starting sightseeing in Kathmandu before 9 so that you skip the busy traffic of Kathmandu. We head towards the Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square today. A walk from Kathmandu Durbar Square to Thamel is interesting as it goes through the oldest settlement of the Kathmandu valley and has the local market with clothing’s, spices and groceries, etc. After going through these old palace areas we head towards the hill station of Nagarkot for Sunset view.

Kathmandu Durbar Square - Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the center of the Kathmandu valley and has some of the most interesting monuments in Nepal. The Kasthamandap, the building from which Kathmandu derived its name, the Kumari Ghar, the House of the Living goddess Kumari, the Taleju temple and the most interesting the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, now a museum are some of the interesting buildings in Kathmandu Durbar Square. Besides that, the program of different kinds and gathering of people from all over Nepal makes it a lively place and the best place to understand Nepal.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur is on the eastern side of Kathmandu city and is also referred to as the city of Devotees and the fact is justified by hundreds of temples in the area. The home to the vibrant Newari culture, this is also the city of festivals. The 55 windows palace, the tallest pagoda in Nepal, the Pottery square and the museums in Bhaktapur has made it the best palace area in Nepal and also a must-visit place in Nepal when you are here. The entrance fee 15 USD is a bit on the higher side but once you go to the Bhaktapur Durbar Square you will be happy with the price you have paid.

Nagarkot - Nagarkot is situated at 2100m from sea level and is famous for the sunset and sunrise view. It is 32 km away from Kathmandu city and is a one-night destination for hikers and trekkers as well as people who love to see mountains from distance, from the hotel room or with a beer or coffee in hand. The drive is also very interesting as it winds through the swirling road from Bhaktapur. You can see the Langtang Lirung, Annapurna 2nd, Ganesh Himal range and also Everest on a very clear day.
