Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Kathmandu after a scenic flight over the mountains. Meet the representative of Adventure Mission Nepal Treks & Expedition (AMN) and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Explore the city and prepare for the trek.
You can spend this day exploring some of the World heritage sites in Kathmandu valley for some time and prepare for the trek in the afternoon.
Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj.
After breakfast fly to Nepalgunj (1 hour flight) and explore the city that shares border with India.
Day 04: Fly to Jumla (30 min) and start trekking to Gothi Chaur (2700m)
We will fly to Jumla which lies in the bank of Til River at 2370m. Jumla is the place famous as the highest rice growing area in the world. After getting off the plane we will walk towards the confluence of the Til River and the Chaudhabise River. After crossing these two rivers and walking for some time we will reach a valley along the Southern side of Tila to Depal Gaon. We will walk past the villages of Bhajkati, Dugri Lagun and reach Dochal Ghara. We will walk further up from here for couple of hours until we reach Pattyata Lagna and start descending to our overnight camping site, Gothi Chaur.
Day 05: Trek to Naphukana (3080m).
After breakfast we will start to walk through a forest and series of mills until we reenter the Tila Valley. We will walk past small streams and small settlements for 2 hours to reach the village of Chotra with lots of Tibetan Mani walls and small chortens. The next one hour of walk from Chotra takes us to Naphukana, a village with awesome Tibetan culture and tradition. We will make the overnight camp beside a large gompa in the village.
Day 06: Trek to Balasa
The small trail we follow today to Balasa is the most scenic and beautiful as it offers view of many Himalayan peaks including the Gautama peak (5608m), Matatumba peak (5767m) and Bhalu Himal (5460m). We will enter the Bheri valley after sometime and reach the village of Chaurikot from where we start walking up a ridge at 3080m. Another half an hour of walk from the ridge we reach Balasa, our overnight destination.
Day 07: Trek to Kaigaon
Our Journey begins after a walk through the Walnut trees. We will walk further up to Jyakot through the potato fields and apple orchards. From Jyakot we will start descending until we reach Rimi. The trail is rocky and difficult until we reach the Bheri River. Upon crossing the bridge over Bheri we reach Kaigaon, our campsite.
Day 08: Trek to Toijem (2920m)
After an early breakfast we begin with our day trek to Toijem. We stay on the west bank of the Bheri, passing Hurikot, staying high above the river to the confluence of the Jagdula and Garpung Kholas. We drop to Jagdula Khola crossing it on stones to Toijem.
Day 09: Trek to Kagmara (3500m)
After breakfast we will follow the trail along the Garpung River and then head eastern continuing upwards. We will start descending to Kagmara after sometime. The walk lasts around 5 hours today before we stop for camping at Kagmara.
Day 10: Trek to Phedi (4000m)
We will start the walk earlier than the previous days today so we will have early breakfast and prepare for the walk. We will walk up hill through the Kagmara Glacier to the Kagmara La, which lies at an impressive height of 5100m. We will descend about 900m to reach the camp site from Kagmara la.
Day 11: Trek to Phoksundo Lake
We will walk up to the Phoksundo Lake for camping today. We will follow a small stream from Phedi to reach headquarters at Sumduwa. We climb through a forest of large cedars to the winter settlement of Palam and continue ascending through the open country to a ridge. Close by is a spectacular waterfall, the highest in Nepal. We will walk for half an hour to reach the Ringmo village and walk north for an hour to reach the Phoksundo Lake.
Day 12: Rest day
You can explore around the lake and small settlement. The lake is 4.8km long, 1.8km wide and is about 650m deep.
Day 13: Trek to Baga La Phedi
We will walk towards the east throught the juniper and blue pine. In 5 hours of time we will reach Baga la Phedi for camping.
Day 14: Across Trek to Numa-la Phedi (4800m)
First we will walk for 3 hours to reach the top of the Baga La the second highest pass in the entire trek. Then we will start descending towards the base of Numa la. The descent for first hour is easy but the second half until the Numa La Phedi is steep and difficult. Overnight camping at Numa-la Phedi.
Day 15: Trek across Numa La (5360m) and trek to Do (4100m)
After breakfast at the base to complete with our climbing of the last of the high passes, we start early and then continue climbing through arid country to the Numa La. It is marked by Mani stones and, if it is clear, we can see as far as Dhaulagiri. Now we descend past a huge Mani wall to the Tarap region and then we walk through the barley fields of the Tarap Valley to the settlement of Do.
Day 16: Rest and exploration day at Do.
Do is the largest settlement in Tarap and has several Gompas such as Ri Bhunpa Gompa and, Bon-po gompa. Rest and Relax after exploration.
Day 17: Trek to Lahini (3560m)
You will feel much better and stronger after rest and acclimatization at Do. We continue through the trail along the river till a gorge. After walking past the gorge and crossing the river twice we reach a flat expanse, which is the village of Lahini for overnight camping.
Day 18: Trek to Tarakot (2600m)
The trail today goes over a cliff and is dangerous and steep at times. As we enter Khanigaon, the road is wide and much easier to walk. Then we start walking uphill and then descend towards the Barbung River and the fortress village of Tarakot where we will stay overnight in our camps.
Day 19: Trek to Dunai (2100m)
We will walk along the Barbung River downstream until we the village of Lawman, before crossing to the north bank and walking for several more hours to Dunai.we stay overnight at tented camp.
Day 20: Trek to Juphal (2500m)
We will walk to Juphal for 6 hours today. We will walk past the villages of Roop Ghar and Kala Gaura and climb up thorough the meadows to the airport at Juphal. Our final night's campsite will be near the airfield. We stay overnight in camp at Juphal.
Day 21: Juphal – Nepalgunj –Kathmandu by flight.
We will take a early morning flight to Nepalgunj as flights are not possible from here in the afternoon because of the strong wind. After arriving at Nepalgunj we take connecting flight to Kathmandu.
Day 22: Free day in Kathmandu for activities of personal interest. (This extra day can be used if the flight is cancelled from Juphal on day 21)
Day 23: Depart Kathmandu to reach another destination or fly back home with memories of the trek.
You can depart from Kathmandu to your home country or extend the trip and head for another trip within or outside Nepal.
