Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Kathmandu after a scenic flight over the mountains. Meet the representative of Adventure Mission Nepal Treks & Expedition (AMN) and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi.
We will take a 7 hours scenic drive to Dhunche through Trishuli and Kakani and reach Syabrubesi for overnight stay. The drive is an attraction on itself as it goes through the swirling roads past hill top settlements and offers close view of the Langtang range and the Ganesh Himal range.
Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m).
We will walk for around 7-8 hours today as we will start walking through the deciduous forests of oak and maple that cover the lower sections of the valley and climbs through massive stands of spruce, fir and blue pine. After few hours walk we will cross the bridge over a small tributary of to Langtang River and further continue in the forest, till we reach the Langtang Khola. The path continues through the south bank of the river through a deep gorge with no views of the mountains, and another half an hour of walk we will reach the north bank of the Langtang River. Walking past forest and small settlement we will reach the Chon gong village (2400m) where the Lama Hotel is located.
Day 04: Trek to the Langtang village-
We will start walking towards Ghora Tabela, which means Horse Stable in the local language, after breakfast. The trail offers excellent view of Langtang Lirung (7525m in the back ground. The trail is very steep in some places until we reach Ghora Tabela. We will continue walking past the forest and about half an hour before we reach the Langtang village we will come across a very old monastery. Further walking ahead for half an hour we will reach the Langtang village which is a Tibetan styled settlement. The walks last for 4 hours today.
Day 05: Trek to Kyangjin Gompa.
We will start the walk from Langtang village to Kyangjin Gompa for overnight. The walk lasts for around 4 hours. We can see the U-shaped glacier from the trail and walk past a long Mani wall. We will cross many streams and moraines and reach the Kyangjin Gompa.
Day 06: Rest day
You can explore around the area or rest today. If you feel like walking around you can go to the surrounding glaciers, Kyangjin RI (4770m) or Tserogri, a small peak, from where you can see the mountains in the Border of Tibet and Nepal
Day 07: Trek back to Lama Hotel.
We will walk back for 6 hours in the same trail to reach Lama Hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08: Trek back to Thulo Syabru.
Trek back to Thulo Syabru, which is a walk of around 6 hours.
Day 09: Trek to Sing Gompa.
The trail continues gradually downwards past forests, an old chorten to the top of the ridge and few teashops at 3000m. There is a view from the top of the ridge you can see Dhunche, the trek ending point far below in the valley. The trail continues across the head of a second valley, and then reaches a final ridge at 3260m. The small Buddhist monastery of Sing Gompa is about 100m along the trail to the left. This is the main attraction at Chandan Bari, elevation 3250m. Because we will be crossing a 4610m pass, it is essential that we spend the rest of the day acclimatizing to the high elevation.
Day 10: Trek to Gosaikunda.
We will start our trek to the Gosaikunda Lake today, which is the major highlight of this trek. We will cross the bridge on the Langtang side and start climbing towards the Cholang Pati (3380m) walking past a dense forest. Throughout the walk you will have excellent view of Langtang Lirung, Himalchuli, and Manaslu. After walking for an hour we will be able to see the Gosainkund Lake, Saraswati Kund (lake), dedicated to the goddess of learning from here. We will further walk and cross the spur, from where we can see another religiously important lake the Bhairav Kund. The path goes up gently from here and to a ridge and again after a descend of 20m we reach Gosaikunda. There is a big crowd of people on the full moon day of August to take dip in the holy water. They believe that doing so will exempt all their sins and wrong deeds and doors of heaven will open for them.
Day 11: Rest day at Gosaikunda.
You can take rest or explore the area.
Day 12: Trek to Ghopte.
We will walk downwards today and walk down hill from Laurebinayak Pass. As we get down we can see some smaller lakes that are considered holy by the locals. As we reach 4600m, the highest point of the trek we will see cairns built long ago. After walking for one hour on the rocky and steep trail we will reach a Magar settlement with small huts and then we will continue through the trail to reach another ridge. We will cross many streams and few waterfalls on the way to the ridge. We will reach Ghopte in half an hour after reaching the second ridge for overnight stay.
Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2650m.)
After breakfast ewe will head towards Melamchi Gaon, walking past Tharepati Pass (3490m.) The first part of our trail is slightly descending and then starts ascending through the rhododendron forests until Tharepati. From Tharepati, the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forests down to Helambu valley. We would see Jugal Himal and Number of Solu Khumbu from here. Melamchi Gaon is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people. We would visit the monasteries at our leisure at Melamchi.
Day 14: Trek to Tarke Ghyang
After breakfast we will head towards Tarke Ghyang (2743m.), over overnight destination for today which can be reached after 5 hours of walk from Melamchi Gaon. The first part walk includes gradual descending until we reach the Melamchi stream and further walking for couple of hours we will reach Tarke Ghyang, a Sherpa settlement with big and popular monasteries.
Day 15: Trek to Shermathang (2621m.)
You will be feeling much better after the rest and the trek is also quite easy today as we will be walking throught flat land and beautiful forest. After four hours of walk we will reach the village of Shermathang for overnight stay.
Day 16: Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846m.)
Today we will descend gradually to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846m.) through terraced fields and small settlements. The walk is not very hard today as we will walk for around 4 hours and you can take your time to interact with the smiling people on the way. Overnight at Melamchi.
Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu
From Melamchi we will drive back to Kathmandu via Lamidanda.
Day 18: Depart Kathmandu to reach another destination or fly back home with memories of the trek.
You can depart from Kathmandu to your home country or extend the trip and head for another trip within or outside Nepal.
