Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
Representative of Adventure Mission Nepal will receive you in the Tribhuvan International Airport. They will be in possession of your name plate or the companies name as per your correspondence with us. You will be transfer to the hotel and the trek guide will meet you in the evening for a dinner. During the meal you can discuss your queries (if any). He/she will brief you about some cultural issues and some necessary things to keep in consideration during the trek.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu and half day free for final preparation of the trek.
Early in the morning the staff from AMN will meet you to collect your passport copy and photographs (if not sent via email) for the preparation of Trekking permit and TIM’s card. After breakfast you will be taken for a half day sightseeing of the Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath temple, also refer as the Monkey temple. Both are UNESCO world heritage sites. In the afternoon you can have some free time with the guide around Thamel to do some last minute shopping of things you might need for the trek.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and 3 hrs treks to Phakding 2,650m.
We will start early morning from the hotel, usually with packed breakfast from the hotel in Kathmandu. A 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu takes us to Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we will start the trek towards Phakding. The walk is fairly easy with view of some mountains. A Little more than couple of hours walk takes us to Phakding where we stay for tonight.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m approx. 5-6 hrs.
We will cross the Dudh-Kosi River and start the walk of the day. With occasional ups and down, we will reach the village of Monjo in couple of hours. After completing the formalities in the gate of the Sagarmatha National Park’s office we walk ahead to the village of Jorsalle village. Another 4 hours walk from here we reach the famous Namche Bazaar. The trail from Jorsalle to Namche has a nice view of the mountains such as Kwande peak; Kusum Kanguru & Mt. Everest You can also see mountains such as Nuptse, Lhotse and Taweche peak from some places.
Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar.
This is a free day for rest so that you can acclimatize before we go towards the higher altitude. Namche Bazar has lot of things to see and spending a day in this town of the Sherpas is not a difficult thing to do.
Day 06: Trek to Thame 3,800m. 5 hrs.
After breakfast we will head and walk along on the trail along the Bhote Kosi River valley, as the trail goes ahead we see plenty of prayer flags and Mani or prayer stones, which symbolize the presence of Tibetan Buddhism in the area. We will walk past the villages of Gonglha, Drama and Thomde. Thomde has a monastery worth visiting. From here onwards we go down for a short while and another steep climb of one hour lays the village of Thame. The area has nice view of the Everest region and is also famous for the Thame monastery where the spring festival called Mani Rimdu takes place.
Day 07: Trek to Mingbo 3,900m after visiting the monastery 3-4 hrs.
After a wonderful time at Thame the trek leads to absolute wilderness near towards Tibet border of Nangpa-la, where most of the Tibetans enter Nepal to trade. The walk leads on the high slope for the overnight stop at Mingbo a small herder's village.
Day 08: Trek to Chulung 4,380m via Marulung 4,200m 7-8 hrs.
We will leave Mingbo after breakfast and continue moving high in the winding trail. The surrounding looks barren and you can feel the change in altitude. We will stop at Marlung for lunch after walking for 3 hours. After rest we will continue ahead in the trail to Chulung. The trail has very thin population and few pasture lands where the Yak herds come to stay during summer days for the grazing of the Yaks.
Day 09: Trek towards Renjo Pokhari (pond) at approx 4,600m 4-5 hrs.
This is a shorter day. Although it is short can be tiring as we go up most of the day with occasional descends. We walk for almost 5 hours before reaching Renjo Pokhari.
Day 10: Trek and cross Renjo-la at 5,345m and camp at Gokyo. 3-4 hrs.
We will be climbing the first pass of the trekking in the Everest region today. After walking for more than 3 hours we reach the top of the pass, Renjola. You can see Cho-Oyu in the Tibet and Nepal border. It is also the sixth highest mountain in the world. After spending about half an hour at the top we will go down to the other side to Gokyo for the overnight camp.
Day 11: At Gokyo for local hike and trek to Dragnak.
We start the day earlier than before as we are climbing the Gokyo Ri, one of the major highlights of the Everest 3 passes trekking. Gokyo Ri is situated at 5,357m and has a 180 degree view of the high mountains in the Khumbu region including Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and Mt. Makalu. It takes us couple of hours to reach the top on a steep trail. We will come back the same way down and continue our walk to Dragnak to set up the camp for tomorrow’s climbing of the Cho-la pass.
Day 12: Cross Tsho-la 5,430m and then to Dzong-la 4,830m. 6-7 hrs.
Climbing the Chola pass in the morning takes us few hours. After reaching the top we will rest for a while and spend some time for photography. We will get down from the other side to Dzongla. The hike up to the pass can be much difficult during the time of snowfall.
Day 13: Trek to Lobuche 4,928m Approx: 5 hours.
In a trail with ups and down we will walk for 5 hours to reach Lobuche. The area is very isolated and you will feel the thrill of walking in complete wilderness.
Day 14: Trek towards Kongma-la 5,150m. 4-5 hrs.
We will walk through the upper moraine in the direction of Khumbu glacier. The trail is narrow and not very easy to walk, is also partially zigzag. Always follow the guide and watch out for rocks falling from the top. Our camping site is located near by the Mera Peak (Khongmatse) one of the most popular trekking peak in Nepal.
Day 15: Cross Kongma-la 5,535m and camp at Dingboche 6-7 hrs.
We will climb the third pass of the Everest 3 passes trekking, Kongma-la at 5,535. This is the highest pass in the trekking you are doing. the walk leads higher up and then descending towards the glacial pond and the walk leads on the rocks and moraine path most of the way till Bibre after a hard day from here a leisure trek of few hours towards Dingboche with awesome views of the surrounding high snow capped peaks, on reaching Dingboche for lunch and for the overnight stop, with afternoon free for local hike and relaxation.
Day 16: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m. 5 hrs.
You must be very tired after doing the 3 passes in the Everest region. We will make a late start and head towards Pangboche village which is around 3 hours walking from Dingboche. After lunch here we will head towards Thyangboche. Stroll around the monastery and observe the monks practicing Buddhism.
Day 17: Trek to Monjo 2,835m. Approx: 5-6 hrs.
After breakfast we will go down in a descending trail to the river and then climb up for an hour to Namche Bazaar. Another couple of hours going down from Namche we will reach the village of Monjo. We will have lunch here and explore the area. You can spend more time around Namche; have lunch there and then continue to Monjo for overnight stay as well. Consult with your guide regarding your preference.
Day 18: Trek to Lukla 5 hrs walk.
This is the last part of the Everest base camp trek with Arun Valley. It takes us 5 hours to reach Lukla. We will stay near by the airstrip in Lukla. A party with the staff is a must after such a successful trekking around the Everest region.
Day 19: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
The flight from Lukla can be delayed sometime because of weather. It is a short panoramic flight of 30 minutes. During the peak season the weather is usually clear and flight is on schedule.
Day 20: Final Departure.
The trek has come to an end and we hope you enjoyed it. You can extend your trip to some destinations within Nepal, Tibet or Bhutan. Transfer to the airport on time. See you again in Nepal.
