Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Arrival at Bhutan, Paro International Airport and sightseeing in the afternoon (2250m).
The flight into Bhutan is one of the most interesting Mountain flights in the world. You will be welcomed by the representative of Adventure mission Nepal treks and expedition and transferred to the hotel. After a brief rest and lunch we will head towards the Ta Dzong, the National museum of Bhutan. After the visit to the Museum we take a short walk to the Rinpung Dzong often described as the fort with heaps of Jewel. Khichu Lhakhang is the next place we visit. It is the oldest monument in the small kingdom of Bhutan. By the late afternoon we reach the Drugyal Dzong (Bhutan Victory Fort) built around the mid 17th century in the memory of the Bhutanese victory over the Tibetan invaders.

Day 2:  Excursion to the Tigers Nest (3190m) and Drive to Thimphu (2 hours/54km) in the afternoon (2350m).
After a warm and nice breakfast served at the hotel we will hike up the 4200 steps to the Tiger's Nest, locally known as the Taktsang Monastery. This monastery has been the identification of Bhutan since a long time because of its religious significance and also because of its location. The Mahayani Buddhist believes that the first dalai lama, Padmasamvav flied on a back of a tigress to her for Meditation. While coming down we will have lunch at halfway down the hill and continue to Paro. We drive to Thimpu in the late afternoon. This is a scenic drive through the hills for around 2 hours.

Day 3: Full day sightseeing of Thimpu.
The places we visit today include the King’s Memorial Chorten, Nunnery Temple, Changgangkha Monastery, Majestic Thimphu Dzong etc.Besides that we also go to the Central zoo to see the animals over there and among them the Takin, a goat-antelope is a major attraction as it is the national animal of Bhutan . In the afternoon visit the Weekend market famous for all kinds of local products ranging from handicrafts to vegetables. You can also visit the radio tower on a hill top, which offers a panoramic view of Thimpu city.

Day 4: Drive to Punakha (1250m) 3 hours/77 km
We start the day in the morning with a drive to Punakha via Dochu La (3,100 meters). The drive is around 3 hours long and is 77 km from Thimpu. This town derives its name from the river on whose banks it is situated, the Punakha River. We will make brief visit to the fertility temple known as Chimi Lhakhang. You can receive blessings of fertility with a phallus (Symbolic representation of male sexual organ) from the Lama. Upon arrival at Punakha we will have lunch and visit the Punakha Zhong in the evening.

Day 5: Drive to Gangtey (2900m) 4 hours/85 km
We will start the day with a visit to Wangduephodrang town to see the stone carvings. Our destination today is Gangtey a beautiful settlement with White Mountains and green hills around it. After spending some time at the Gangtey we take a short walk in the Phobjikha village and drive back to Punakha

Day 6: Drive to Phuntsholing (234Km/7 hrs)
Today we have a long and scenic drive to the town of Phuntsholing, a bordering town near the Bhutan-India Border. The drive goes pass hilly road for 234 km and on the way we will make few stops, one for lunch and others for photography.

Day 7: Continue to your onward destination or drive back to Paro for your flight next day.       
From here onwards you can have a tour of Darjeeling in western India or drive onwards to Nepal for your tour and flight home. You can also drive back to Paro for your return flight.
