Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
Once you arrive at the country of Mt. Everest, you will be greeted by the representative of Adventure Mission Nepal (AMN) in traditional way and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu
You can spend this day exploring some of the World heritage sites in Kathmandu valley for some time and prepare for the trek in the afternoon. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03: Drive to Syange (1100m) 7/8 Hrs Private Drive
With a certain determination and a huge amount of enthusiasm we start our trek today. Taking the Prithvi Highway till Dumre, we will then take an uneven road by the River Marshyangdi. While on this trail we will pass through the low lying villages on the banks of the river and also the paddy fields that are a common feature in this area. Following this trail we will reach Besi Sahar after a drive of around 6 hours. Besi Sahar is the Headquarter of Lamjung District and also is a small commercial centre along the banks of the River Marshyangdi. From here we head to Syange which is another 2 hours journey by an automobile. Here we will halt for the night at the tea house.
(Note- Apart from the Monsoon season, you can drive till Dharapani reducing one more day as the motorable road has reached Chyamche/Dharapani now. Furthermore, although this is the private drive till Synge and if we have limited time then we can walk further 1.5 hrs to Jagat / Chamche ).
Day 04: Trek to Tal / Karte (1700m) 5 Hrs
From Syange we travel down to Jagat in 1.5 hours and further continue till Chyamche. Today too we will be walking along the banks of the River Marshyangdi. We will at a point descend until the trail reaches the river. Further we will then walk through a lush green forest for one hour and reach the village of Chamje. From here we will further continue to Sattale. On treading along a succession of rock-strewn trails, we descend to a grassy riverbank that leads to Tal. As we walk away from Tal, the path becomes rugged and winding. Then we approach Karte which is a village in the midst of a deep forest. This is our last destination for the day.
Day 05: trek to Chame [2630m] 5/6 Hrs
After breakfast, we will proceed further and continue through the narrow village trail keeping the Dudh Khola to our left. The Dudh Khola originates from the southern face of Manaslu. Further on, the Marshyangdi River enters a gorge and the trails follows rock-strewn path. We will stop for a while to enjoy the majestic and impressive view of the Manaslu before the incline ends and the forest of rhododendron starts.ing further up we will reach the hamlet of Koto, from where you can have the most awe inspiring view of Annapurna II and surrounding peaks. From here we will walk for nearly one hour till we will reach a white gate with a corrugated iron roof, the entrance to Chame, a small village that serves as the Headquarter of the Manang District. It is dotted with most of the government offices of the area.
Day 06: Trek to Pisang [3190m] 5/6 Hrs
One of the most mesmerizing moments would be when you wake up with sun rising beautifully over the Lamjung Himal (6,993m). This is how our 6th day on the trek is going to start. After the overnight rest we head towards Pisang which will be our overnight destination for today. On our way to Pisang we will cross through the barley fields gently swaying in the winds, cross mountain passes, enjoy the sight of apple orchards and small hamlets until we reach the untouched hamlet of Bratang. After passing through this village we will continue our onward journey enjoying the majestic beauty of Annapurna II, Gangapurna Glacier and stunning snow capped peaks. Similarly, after a walk of almost 3 hours we will arrive at Pisang village.
Day 07: Trek to Manang [3520m] 5 Hrs
Our day starts with the journey towards Manang. On the way to this town we will pass the beautiful and scenic Manang Valley and also have a glimpse of the sky high Tilicho Peak (7132m). This we can see while we are descending through Manang's airstrip, Humde. After a while we will reach the spot where the north-eastern face of Annapurna III is visible. Further on while we walk ahead through the Sabje Khola Valley, we can also see the Annapurna IV, which stands at 7525m, in all its majestic glory. Further on, we cross a wooden bridge, as the Marshyangdi Khola gushes below us after which we enter the village of Mungji. We continue downhill till we reach Manang and experience the awe inspiring sight of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna [7455m] and Tilicho Peak [7134m] standing majestically in their full glory as the backdrop of our trail. Manang is one of the typical villages where one can find traditional houses made up of clay with mix up Manangi and Tibetan culture in addition to the unique lifestyle of the local people.
Day 08: Trek to Letdar [4250m] 4/5 hrs
Today is going to be a thrilling day as we have reached that point in the trek where we will start our ascent towards Thorung La. We start our walk after the breakfast and start climbing uphill to Tengi, and 120 meters above Manang. Furthermore we traverse past Marshyangdi Valley turning north-west up the valley of the Throng Khola and continue further to Gunsang (3960 m). This is a small mountain hamlet with houses that have flat roofs made up of mud. We walk past picturesque meadows and rich forests of barberry, juniper etc. On the way we encounter horses and yaks grazing. This whole scene depicts the picture postcard perfection also renowned as Yak Kharka. Keeping ourselves on the same track, we will continue walking and cross the large stream coming down from the Chulu west. Keeping it to our side we will follow the trail until we reach a rich pasture that is 4000 meters above sea level.
Day 09: Trek to Thorung Phedi [4500m] 3/ 4 Hrs
Leaving Letdar behind, we climb gradually to a ridge before going downhill to the gushing headwaters of the River Marshyangdi. We then cross the river using a covered wooden bridge. After a short climb up the mountain path on the right bank of the river, we follow a really narrow trail across an uneven steep slope and then climb down to Thorung Phedi. Similarly, if time allows we will climb to High Camp (4883m) and stay overnight in order to shorten the walk for tomorrow to cross the Throng La.
Day 10: Trek to Muktinath [3800m] 7/8 hrs
This is the most exciting day of the trek as we will be crossing the Thorung La [5416m], the highest trekking pass in the world. It has been listed as one of the best trekking trails in the world in terms of culture and unique landscape, many times by many organizations, individual authors, Magazines, BBC, Trip Advisor and Lonely planet as well. So we start early for the climb and then the downhill trek. The trail is very steep but well defined and easy to track as it has been used by the villagers for hundreds of years now. The walk is uphill and strenuous for the next four hours until we reach a place with prayer flags and a small stupa/chorten. From up here, we can see the majestic snow capped mountains, rolling hills of Mustang and the beautiful Valley of Kaligandaki. After a brief rest we start our descent in the direction of Muktinath (3800m). We take a path along the Jhong Khola Valley to Muktinath, a popular pilgrimage in the Himalayan region for both Hindus and Buddhist.
Day 11: Trek to Jomsom [2713m] 5/6 Hrs
Coming down the mountain in the morning you will find yourself in Jharkot and Khingar, where there are beautiful monasteries which give you an opportunity to experience the interrelation and similarity of the Tibetan culture to that of the people living in this area. One cannot really get over the awesome view of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri throughout the trail. We walk past Kagbeni to reach Jomsom along the banks of River Kali Gandaki. Jomsom is the Headquarter of Mustang district and we can spend some time here to explore the area and interact with the locals.
Day 12: Flight to Pokhara
Since Jomsom lies at the mountainous region so there is always an early flight to Pokhara as in the morning the days are clear and also the flight duration is about 20 minutes. Similarly, Pokhara is also known as “city of Lake” and is one of the most popular places for the foreigners after Kathmandu. There are lots of interesting things to see in Pokhara. So when you are in Pokhara don’t miss to visit the popular landmarks of Pokhara.
Day 13: Fly / Drive to Kathmandu (30 minute Flight and 6/7 hrs Private drive)
Today either you can fly to Kathmandu which will be 30 minutes worthy flight where you can see the changing natural vegetation with Himalayan Range or you can drive from Pokhara. The drive will be scenic and you will get opportunity to experience the highway of Nepal.
Day 14: Depart Kathmandu to reach another destination or fly back home with memories of the trek.NOTE: This itinerary is only a guideline and we can customize it as per your request. You can add rest days in between, ask for an alternate route (if available) and add other destinations like Pokhara and Chitwan if you wish to visit any before or after the trek. We can arrange for trips to Bhutan, Tibet or India upon your request before you travel back to your home country.
You can depart from Kathmandu to your home country or extend the trip and head for another trip within or outside Nepal
